Hello, I am running windows Xp on my computer. It was working fine and running all files, but now all of a sudden its stopped running certain types of file like .swf and a few applications. When i click on the files to open them my mouse pointer turns to busy(mouse + hour glass) for a fraction of a second and then nothing happens and the application does not start.
.swf files are Flash files and are played by the Adobe Flash Player. If you currently have the Adobe Flash Player installed, try going to Start --> Control Panel and clicking on Add/Remove Programs. When the screen loads click on Adobe Flash Player and click Uninstall. Finally restart your computer.
When the computer reboots, use the below link to install Adobe Flash Player.

This happens due to viruses. They delete the NTLDR file.
Do you have the original XP CD? Then insert it and boot from the CD. (If it doesn't boot from the CD, tell us and we will explain how to set it in BIOS).
After a while it will ask you whether to Setup XP (Enter) or Repair an existing Windows installation (R). Press Enter here (Don't worry, I know what I am talking about).
Press F8 to accept the Licence Agreement.
(*** In the following screen you have to press 'R'. IF YOU DON'T SEE A TEXT SCREEN BUT THE SETUP STARTS TO RUN, TAKE OUT THE CD IMMEDIATELY AND RESTART THE COMPUTER. ***)
It will tell you you have an existing Windows installation in <C:> drive. It will ask whether to install a fresh copy (Esc, as I remember) or Repair (R). Press R.
Let the setup run. After a while you may need to enter the key.
After few minutes, your computer will be ready, with all your files, fonts and software intact!

Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for running Windows XP if this is an upgrade - I had a computer that technically met the requirements, but boy did it run slow after I upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP. If your hard drive contains no programs, information that you can live without, then you can completely reformat the hard drive and start over from scratch. If it does contain important programs, burn them to CD or DVD - and make sure that your computer can read the files after you are done burning - and then reformat your hard drive.
Hi, First of all start your PC using window which is working and then go to the start->run->(type)cmd(press enter) and open the drive which contain the window to be repaired (C:) then run the command "chkdsk". Then restart your PC with the Window in C drive. I hope this can fix your problem.
