Ice maker grinding sound

Ice maker works but makes repetitive grinding sound, regardless of ice maker arm position. How can we stop it?

same thing I have a Maytag MSG sisde by side and the icemaker seems to have a grinding sound the Frig works and the icemaker is working but there is a intermittent grinding sound repetively coming from that part of the freezer I do not beleive it is the Compressor or the fans because it is intermittent and not associated with any other operations that I can tell. My Maytag side by side (same model #) does the same thing. A grinding sound comes from just below (I think) the ice maker on the freezer side. It stops only when the freezer door is opened. If I have the door opened and depress the switch to make the freezer think the door is closed, the grinding noise stops. The unit is less than 2 years old.

Ice maker seems to work OK and the unit cools OK. I hear the compressor cycle on and off but the grinding noise is constant.

    Any suggestions?

I had the same and found the same solution. Chances are the problem will come back. Just over a week ago (when it was freezing cold in Florida) I took everything out of the fridge and freezer, unplugged it, even pointed a hair dryer in the ice unit. Once I was done it was completely defrosted and dry. I have not heard anything since - and I can sleep again ;-).

I found I get a odd clicking noise whenever the icecubes freeze inside of the box in the top left. You'll see about 20 little fingers, arms, or whatever you want to call them that spit out the ice into the container...make sure those fingers/arms arent stuck from the ice.

How do I get the ice maker to produce for the first time

Is the arm that gets pushed up by the ice cubes (in order to stop making ice when it is full) in the down position? it is able to be pushed up and locked so that the icemaker doesn't make at ice and may need to be pushed down.

My Samsung freezer has stopped giving out ice

Does the ice bin have any ice in it? If not has the ice maker arm been raised up to the stop position? If so lower it, this will start the ice maker again, and after several hours the ice bin will have enough ice to be dispensed from the door.

KitchenAid 25in KSRJ25CNST00 icemaker trouble. The LED light on side of freezer is blinking twice with a delay and repeats same sequence. No ice is making. Any suggestions on what to look for?

Try the reset button on the control panel. If that doesn't work, then try unpluging the refrigerator.
Also, make sure that ice tray shut off arm isn't in the up position. It should be in the unlock position one notch below the off position. This arm is used by the refrigerator from over filling the ice cube holding tray. Once the ice fills the tray. The ice in the bend will push up on the arm which
initiate the ice maker to stop making ice. As soon as you start using the ice in the bend and the arm falls below the off position. The ice maker will start making ice. GB....stewbison

Ice maker won't stop making ice. We put the metal flip facing up and it just keeps making ice. It should stop...right?

If the arm is up and locked in position, it should stop the ice maker. check that the bail arm is indeed pushed into the ice maker head, you will likely have to remove the ice maker with the 1-3 screws holding it in place, to see it. Check also that the other end of the bail arm is attached near the fill cup, if its not attached, that could be the reason. If the arm does not appear to lock in the upright position, or if it does and still does not stop ice production, you will need to replace the ice maker

My ice marker will not stop making ice the arm

This problem is going to be the ice maker itself. The arm you are talking about is the shut-off mechanism for the ice machine. Just before the ice machine starts to make ice, the arm slowly rises. Then the arm falls down, if there is ice blocking the arm from falling all the way down it will not make ice because there is plenty! If the arm is able to fall down completely, the ice machine will make ice like normal. If your ice maker is making ice regardless of the arms position, something is wrong with the ice maker. Depending on who replaces this, it could cost anywhere from $100 to $200.

Jenn-Air bottom freezer ice maker not working

I took the arm of the ice-making machine out of the slot and put it back in, pushing it snugly inside the slot, then raised and lowered it several times. Then, with the arm in the up (stop making ice) position, I felt inside the ice-making tray, where I noted there were ice cubes as well as a sheet of ice at the base of the ice-making tray. I poured approximately 24 oz. of hot tap water into the tray to melt the sheet of ice. I turned the freezer temp control to "warmer". I think the freezer temp setting was too cold, causing the ice maker to freeze the water before it could make cubes. I have a working ice maker again!

Automatic Ice Maker making grinding noise and will not release ice

The mold heater on the bottom of the ice maker is shot, that is why the cubes will not release. The grinding is the sweep arm trying to push the frozen cubes out.
