boot in safe mode with logging if this works its one of you statups if not what is the last entry on the screen. thats the place its hanging go to a another computer and search that keyword and add hanging on boot
sounds like either a RAM or HDD issue. First thing is if you have 2 sticks of ram pull one out and see if it boots ok if not pull the other stick out and put first stick back in. If neither stick lets you boot then I would run a HDD test (some have them in bios) if you do not have it in bios boot windows into safe mode with command prompt and in command prompt type chkdsk /f
