I am using Fantom Titanium 250GB External (TFDU25072B) Hard Drive i am not able to formate it i am using Windows XP Sp2 its giving me error " unable to formate " even i am not able to formate it when i am trying to install new OS

Connect it to a different computer. If it still is not detected, then there is a hardware problem. Exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

it wont work in windows 7. It works only in XP,2000 & 2003.

my computer> right click on the terabyte> select format> make sure u change the option of ntfs to fat 32

If you turn on the drive can you feel that the drive starts spinning? Can you feel movement and see a light flickering?

Does your computer acknowledge that there is something plug in when you plug in the Drive? Does it give you a notification, or does it make a sound?

If so, then this simple setting just might fix your problem.
Just follow these steps and you should be set.
Go to:

Start
Control panel
Administrative tools
Computer management
Storage
Disc management

Now you should see your drive in the schematic below.
Right click on the drive and choose to change the drive letter and paths.
Now click on change and change the current drive letter. If there is no drive letter assigned, assign one.

However, if the drive does not spin at start up, there is something wrong with your HDD.

There are no drivers for this unit. It is a plug & play unit that is one of the worst Fantom has ever offered. Very unreliable and many power cord problems.

I tried for several weeks to find the drivers over the net and researched a ton before I called Fantom Tech Support. The number is posted on New Egg under the their Mfg contacts

unless you fancy trying to connect the drive inside the unit directly to a pc by taking the box a part.

You formatted, but did you create a Partition? Go back to Disk Management and create a Partition on the drive. You should be able to now see it in "My Computer."
