Good Day,

You are correct when you say it produces a brighter light for their size.

According to the training meetings, all manufactures, they will replace this type of lighting in the future. Samsung already has on their newer units with led/lcd type lamps.

DLP's/LCD Projection TV's need a very bright light to project the image.

Good question.

There is no light coming out of the projector, I have replaced the bulb and still no luck

Welcome to Fixya!

Have you placed the bulb right , i mean if you shake it really hard you may damage it , moreover check the position of the bulb if it stays fitted ,

More over Your lamp has a warranty typically. No matter what, don't expect any more than 1,000 hours out of a projector lamp, and budget accordingly. I had my first lamp go, in low power, when rated for 5,000 hours - at 1,200 hours

This is the way projectors work, and is unfortunate, but ignore the owners manual, because if the lamp was really going to last 2,000 hours they would WARRANTY it for 2,000 hours. The fact that they don't clearly show that how much it lasts for.

Now how can you prolong the lamp life.

i believe most home use projector's lamp's life can over 2K hours at lab.
but the environment should be as:

1. no use it over 3 hours each time.
2. keep the room degree at 20-25C
3. keep your room very clean.
4. adjust projector's fan speed to fast

Do comment if it helped you in any matter

My infocus IN1 projector won't turn on anymore.

Hi,
It may be the lamp is out. Normally a projector will try & fire the lamp 3-5 times then shut down with a different color light like amber or red. If the lamp doesn't light then it could be the lamp or perhaps the lamp ballast that starts the lamp has failed. A stuck fan also causes similar symptoms. There's 2-4 fans in the projector if one is stuck or bad it will turn off within 5 seconds or so after the lamp lights.
Does your lamp light at all? Are the lights a different color after it shuts down? Answers to these questions help figure out what's wrong though it's impossible to say for sure without looking at it. I service almost all Infocus projectors if you would like a quote please reply with your email address or write me at prmhelp@earthlink.net
Good Luck,
Jim

My Panasonic PT-LB50U LCD projector flashes red lamp indicator and will not light up. I replaced the lamp and it still will not light. The old lamp only had 20 or so hours on it and it does the same thing....

this worked for me what i did is: turn on projector then undo the light panel when its on the projector then will cut off, now the light panel pushes down on the hidden safety switch take a screw driver and push down on the switch, the projector will turn on then wait for about 8 sec then release the projector will turn off, repeat step several times until the light flickers, then do a couple more times and the light should come on and should stay steady turn off and let cool for 10 min, this worked for me hope it works for you!
