Dc adapter fuse keeps blowing

I purchased the Polaroid 7" Two-Screen Dvd Player today. Every time I plug the car adapter in to my 12v outlet it blows. I tried a new 2amp fuse and a new 2amp slow blow fuse. Do you have a clue as to what my problem is?

Is the fuse on the DC adapter itself, or the fuse on your car for the outlet?

I would assume there is a short in the cable, which is causing the fuse to blow, saving your electrical system on your car, and the player itself.

I would exchange the unit for a new one, or just ask for an exchange on the cable itself.

How do I put it together?

Plug the fat cables into the monitors on the bottom, and then to the player in the D shaped holes. Plug the 12V (car) adapter into your car's power outlet and then to the player in the small hole that may be marked AC/DC in. There's only one hole that will work - can't mess it up.

We lost the cigarette ac adapter and purchased a new generic one, plugged it in and heard a popping noise. Now we can't get the dvd player powered up again. any suggestions

The end of the plug which gets inserted into the cigarette lighter/power port should unscrew. Inside is a fuse. You need to replace it with the identical size and rating of fuse. Check the unit with an ohm meter for any shorts between both conductors. If the unit is shorted toss it and get a new one. If it isn't shorted it should work with a new fuse. Let me know if you need any more help.

the 12 volt car adapter only puts 9v to the dvd player. It is poorly marked. It really only runs on 9v. If you plug 12v into it it will smoke... thats what mine did.

Battery cahrger

The battery should be attached to the bottom of the player. It may also have it's own DC port to plug the charger into. Some players charge back through the player itself but Polaroid made batteries that have to be detached from the player and connected to the charger. Remember, unless tou have a battery on both units, one battery alone is not designed to power both screens, that is what the car adapter is for.

Blowing fuses

Isn't the 1 amp fuse too small? Usually 12 volt operated electronics require a higher amperage fuse. Check with the adaptirs owners manual first before changing again.

Power supply for the 2nd screen ??

If you are not using the car power adapter that came with your PDV-768 for the 2nd screen, you are likely running into the possibility of "reversed polarity" with the power adapter you are attempting to use. This can & often will cause a problem with your unit.
