Question about Carrier ST58N

Beverage Air ST58N Not cooling

I was given a Beverage Air ST58N Milk Cooler. It was working fine until I unplugged it. When I went to plug it back in, the unit will no longer get cold. Fan Works, blew out the coils cause they were dirty. The compressor kicks on for about 3 seconds and then off; repeats in about 40secs. No loud noises from anywhere. Compressor will get warm to hot. Lines to and from the cooler compartment stay neutral in temperature, not hot or cold.

blug in unit, fan runs, light come on in the cooler, compressor kicks on then 2 seconds later it shuts off. Like it's trying to pump but decides it can't and gives up.

Compressor is cycling on the overload protector. Cause could be a bad starting relay but is more than likely the compressor is bad.

Condenser Fan Shuts off after 15-20min, Compressor continues to run but gets hot

Condenser fan motor or motor wiring is bad. That compressor should never run without the fan. Good luck.

I have a fairly new True tbb-2gs which is on a dedicated 120V/15A circuit...has had problems in past with condenser cycling. That problem went away after unplugging and replugging the cooler back into the...

You have to verify that the compressor is running. Don't assume that it is just because the fan is running. the compressor may not be running. If compressor is running, good possibility that it is low on refrigerant. Most common and obvious.

Wiring a thermostat on a milk cooler has spade 1 & 2 which is power

A thermostat is a switch, not a load. The purpose of the thermostat is to stop the power when it's cool enough in the cooler. So when the thermostat senses a lack of heat, it opens the circuit, thus, turning off your unit. It really doesn't matter which wire you put where because the thermostat is going to disconnect them either way. Just as long as they're not on the same spade it's fine.

Most likely a bad defrost tmer. Usually located at the bottom, locate this and advance the timer untl it clicks. Another solution is to unplug for 48 hrs with doors open, plug back in check drian line, if it cool down to below 35 its definitely a defrost problem. Ohm the defrost strip heater if good, check terminator (should be closed above 60 degrees). If good, replace defrost timer.

Beverage Air

1. check for dirty condenser sometimes if its dirty enough, it'll trip the compressor.
2. if condenser is dirty, well pull out the old garden hose and hose down the condenser (turn off unit first!)(i don't want any accidents... je je je)

if you did step 2 and nothing yet, suspect faulty relay/ overload/ start capacitor failure (relay and start capacitors fail more often then the overload.

hope to he of some help today.
