Has anyone tried this? I am running 32 bit Vista which may be a different issue than some but I wanted to see if anyone had stumbled across this solution and found that it worked for them using any Vista...

How to Install Scanner ColorPage HR8 Geniuns 64-bit Windows 8.1
Getting Driver Genius for Windows Vista
Microsoft reports no drivers from the manufacturer, to try luck with the driver of windows Vista, but does not explain how to make it work.
After you download the driver, you have to run the "setup.exe" in support "Windows Vista" mode.
But before you do read the following explanation because you have to do something else before I install it, otherwise it does not work.
As I said, after trying I did not recognize the driver, I tried to take the driver manually
but windows saying that the driver was not digitally signed and you can't install if driver is not signed.
I Search the web such as disable that control and found a step in the url:
After following the steps I could install the scanner driver and HR8 works correctly in Windows 8.1
Now you can run the setup.exe in compatibility mode with Windows Vista, at the end makes restart the computer,
Now you got the scanner Genius ColorPage HR8 running on Windows 8.1
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Canon supports this scanner under Vista. Check if the Windows generic TWAIN scanner driver will work. The Canon software won't work. If the generic driver can be installed, then you should be able to acquire scans in Paint (File > Import from Scanner or Camera), Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan) (some versions of Vista) or Windows Photo Gallery (IIRC it works like Paint).
I hope this helps.
Cindy Wells (Canon wants you to upgrade. I have a different scanner that isn't officially supported past XP and the generic driver works fine. Unfortunately, you can't just use the XP driver in the compatibility mode due to the lack of signed drivers that are required in the 64-bit OS)
The IrisScan will work with Win7 32-bit. This from both the Microsoft Compatibility Center and the manufacturer's web site. In that case, just plug in your scanner and the correct driver should load (go to Windows Update on your computer to finish the installation, if needed). However, if you need a 64-bit driver, you are currently out of luck. They only have a 64-bit XP driver (no support for Vista or Win7 in the 64-bit version.)
