fault is very intermittant, yet freeze, heat or movement don't appear to affect it. Some days it will run all day others it will come and go and sometimes nothing at all.All inputs are affected.

I have an NEC PXT-42SV1, probably 1-2 years old, and for the past month
I would get an intermitten "No Input Signal" whilst watching t.v. This
would happen if I was watching a DVD, Foxtel or Broadcast free to air.

NOTE: I have a switch box, as I get confused easily by different
buttons on different remotes. Everything (DVD, Foxtel, & Aerial
(using RGB plugs)) plugs into the switch box, and then the RGB lines
come out of the output of the switch box and goes into INPUT 1 on the
    back.

Tonight it finally died. I turn the NEC Plasma t.v. on, I see the
friendly NEC logo, it says AV1 (or AV2) in the top left corner, and
then "NO SIGNAL" "NO SIGNAL DETECTED..." in the middle. It then goes
    to 'screen saver' mode.

I have unplugged the 3 leads from INPUT 1 and moved them to INPUT 2.

    Same thing.

I then tried to eliminate the switch box as the culprit by plugging the
Foxtel leads straight into Video 1 (same results) and then Video 2
    (same results).

    Happy frickin' New Year, eh?

And I'm due to have surgery and be confined to the house with no use of my hands for 14 days... :(

Gonna have to call the t.v. repair guy tomorrow and see if he'll come the 30 kilometers to collect the tellie and try to fix it.

Anyone here have an idea as to what's wrong? I couldn't replace the
bad component, but I'd like to know if the repair guy is gonna try to
    shaft me.

Samsung 50 inch plasma tv screen goes blank temporarily

This could be caused by a loss of video signal either from the connection or from the source. The TV may have detected an error which caused the screen to go blank. If this occurs again, check the cable connections and see if having the TV unplugged overnight resets the TV and eliminates the problem.

Rainbow line will come across screen and then goes blank. This is an intermittent problem. Normally if I turn it off and back on, it works. Now it does not.

try resoldering the vertical output IC, the IC runs at a hot temperature and this can cause the Pins to have cracked solder.

Delayed video, audio comes first

It's normal for Sony TVs to have a delay in the video. The screen stays blanked until the circuitry in the set has decided that the picture tube is operating correctly. The screen can remain blanked due to a number of causes. Bad solder connections or components in the vertical output stage are common. Also, Sony sets automatically adjust some tube voltages. If the tube has aged enough or component values in the set have changed and the adjustments don't keep the values in the correct range, the screen will blank out. Intermittent components or connections in the set's video stages or source switching can cause screen blanking. Unfortunately, this is one of the tougher Sony problems to troubleshoot. It usually requires the schematic and an oscilloscope to track down.

NEC PX 42XM1A won't power on

Any chance you might think that it is your remote control faulty? As you need it to turn your plasma on from standby via remote (only). Let me know.

I have a panassonic 50" plazma tv, when using it as a pc monitor the screen goes blank how do i stop this, many thanks, patsy

Does the screen go blank after the computer has been sitting unused for a while or is it immediately blank and does not show a picture. If it goes blank after a while, look in your power settings under control panel on your computer and set the monitor cut off to NEVER, also check your screen saver settings. If it does not show a picture at all check the user manual of your TV to see the supported computer resolutions and then check under display settings on your computer to see if the resolution that you are using is compatible. Hope this helps.

resolder the vertical output IC . bad solder there can make the CRTs blank for protection and you will lose the picture when the vertical drops out.

When the screen goes blank, hit any remote function that will show up on the screen-like volume bar. If the display is missing as well, then you have a tv problem. If the volume display is there when the tv picture is not, you may require a software upgrade.

I do not see any reference on this problem and I even checked with Sony. If you are on a cable box, I suspect that is the problem.

WS-65807 picture goes black when using HiDef Signal

Tank, If the unit operates correctly on DVD then we can assume that the signal chain and display is operational. Can you substitute the Directv receiver to rule the box out as part of the problem? I know they came out and checked but how exhausting was the testing? Have you checked signal strength on the directv on screen setup? Low or marginal signal strength could cause intermittent blanking. When the screen goes dark does the audio continue? please let us know..
