Question about MP3 & Digital Media Players

3 Answers

I have a Dell DJ 20GB MP3 player. Since I migrated to Yahoo Musicmatch, I haven't been able to transfer music stored with Yahoo to my player. I was going to download new driver software from Dell but it said I would wipe out whatever was on the player. Since I wasn't even sure I was doing the correct thing, I didn't download the driver. Any ideas?

Yes this will wipe out all the songs in the player you can create a back up and store in your comp and then later you transfer the data to player again after driver is installed,or check the format in yahoo is compactiable in your player and then covert it compactiable format in your player , you do it by downloading the software form the web...................

Good luck................

Have you tried downloading the music to your PC and transferring the files directly to the Mp3 player via USB connection using Windows Explorer?

This link from Yahoo! explains what to do and how to do it :)
    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/music/j...

You will lose all data currently on your player when you update the firmware. So make a backup of all the contents on your PC. Once you have installed the firmware update, you can transfer the backups using Windows Explorer. (Right click Start button and choose 'Explore')
BTW, This firmware currently works only on Windows XP.

If you found that link helpful, kindly take a moment to "Accept" my solution. Thanks in advance,

I have a discontinued dell pocket dj player that when i download the software it says it isnt compadable how do i fix this i have a vista.

Go to dell.com and enter the DJ's service tag ID on the back of your player on the support section. It will give you a list of drivers and software that you will need for your DJ. If you are running Vista, download the XP drivers. They will work fine.

I have dell dj 20 gb and i cant delete data from data liblary wtf

More specifics please. Are you trying to delete tracks or albums using the dell dj buttons themselves or are you using musicmatch while the dj is docked to your computer?
Also, you might try (while docked) using dell dj explorer to delete data from your player.

Need disk drive to put music on it

you should be able to connect it to your computer and then transfer songs onto it.  You might want to check www.dell.com and see if they have specific drivers for it.

Cannot get my computer to recognize my Dell Jukebox

Assuming that you don't have windows vista, you can load the Dell DJ Explorer program that came with your DJ. It comes up as a regular looking window that should "see" your DJ when you plug it in. If it doesn't, where it says "not connected", right click and then click refresh. Sometimes it works better to plug in the DJ first, then load dj explorer. When it sees it, "not connected" should change to the name of your DJ. Double click that and it should then 'read' your dj, showing all the files on it. Then its just a tedious amount of copy and paste to another folder on your computer (like your My Music folder), and your music is restored to your computer. Take care, as DJ Explorer can also delete files from your DJ if you tell it to.
If you no longer have the DJ drivers and DJ Explorer and Musicmatch loaded on your computer, you can still download that stuff from the Dell site.
If you Do have Vista, try to find a friend with XP. Load the DJ explorer software on their computer, and pull your music off the dj to your friend's computer, then use a USB drive or something to move it to yours. Or better yet, upgrade your computer from VIsta to Xp (yes, I said upgrade - Vista is ****)

Program to download

I think I have something for you. On the back of the player you will notice a Service Tag number. Just check out this site: http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&cat=sup&k=jukebox&rpp=12&p=1&subcat=dyd&rf=all&nk=f&sort=K&ira=False&spf=Dell+Digital+Music+Player&~srd=False&ipsys=False&advsrch=False&~ck=bt and enter in the Service Tag number that you find into the form on this page. After doing so you will receive all the downloads necessary for your player to work.

First Gen Dell DJ 20 Gig "File Cannot Be Written" Transfer Issue

Yahoo jukebox was bought out by Rhapsody. I had the same problem and their only solution was for me to buy a Rhapsody subscription. I know this is not the solution you want to hear but that seems to be the only way to keep any music that was stored using the yahoo jukebox.
