Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9549L Top Load Washer

Washing machine fills, but won't agitate

I have a GE washing top load washing machine, and it has filled up, but won't switch to the next cycle. I have attempted the troubleshooting suggestions from the manual, with no luck. Right now, the tub is full, but the machine just won't move to the next cyle, to agitate, rinse or spin. I have tried different settings with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. My whirlpool washer fills up but won't agitate or go to any other cycle. A few day before that I heard a big boom but the machine kept on washing

I have a similar problem. The machine fills with water, the (buzzing )sound comes on indicating that the machine indeed has power but it will not agitate, rinse, nor spin. I changed to different cycles but no change.

I am having the same problem now with my whirlpool. I read on another site to make sure the lid is tightened at the screws where the lid switch sits into the base of the washer. Well...started to tighten the screws or at least what I thought was the correct way..and one of the nuts fell of the back of the screws...I still have another screw in there. I will keep a eye on it.

Is it a ge or a whirlpool? Both brands could have a bad lid switch that cause it to fill and not agitage/ spin, however the whirlpool lid switch makes a click sound when you close the lid. The GE brands usually have a magnet and cannot be heard.

If timer makes ticking noise with fill up water without washing what is major concern

No, that is the pressure switch switching from fill cycle to agitate. It should be a fairly load click.

GE Top Load Washing Machine -- Agitator will not cycle

Agitator's don't spin on wash cycle.

I would suggest washing the clothes without soap until they rinse clear. If you have hard water, the soap will not easily rinse out of clothes, or off of you when you use soap to wash or shower.

Reduce the amount of soap you use in each wash if this is the case. It sounds like your washing machine is working right.

maytag washer dryer stack unit , model # lse7806ace washer fills with water but won't agitate or do anything else. I had the same problem a year ago and replace the lid switch asssemby and fuse and it worked fine until now. the switch clicks when I open and close the lid and the pink and orange wires show continuity with the lid closed.
