Try to check your RAM, is it in working condition or not, If yes, then remove it from your CPU, rub with an eraser, then fix it again.

There is a large scratch on the screen, and appears black when the monitor is on. My monitor fell and hit the edge of a shelf because I had it leaning forward too much. Obviously, the mark is deep, and the...

It is evident that the LCD panel of the monitor is damaged. If your computer has Dell complete care you can get the monitor replaced. If not you can contact a local technician and get the LCP panel changed, with the remaining circuit boards and backlight assembly intact.

Scratched computor screen

How deep of a scratch is it on the screen? Just on the plastic/glass protective coating over the monitor?
If it is not in the LCD then you could just remove the plastic/glass and replace it if you want.
If the scratch is deep then your LCD is probably scratched. Sadly the cost of replacing the LCD screen within an LCD monitor is more expensive than buying an entirely new screen. Your best bet is either dealing with the scratch or getting an entirely new monitor. I would recommend visiting www.newegg.com where there are many cheap monitors there.

Black vertical mark on computer

If it is an LCD monitor it sounds like the monitor got cracked when you moved it. Either that or one of the edge connectors has gotten damaged and is causing a dead column of pixels.

One other possibility is a bad video card or video cable, hook the monitor up to another computer and see if the line is still there, if not, video card or cable. If line is still there then there is either a crack or bad edge connector. Crack there is no fix, except a new monitor. Edge connectors can sometimes be repaired by the appropriate service technician.

Good luck

Scratch on nikon s210's lcd screen

I think it probably is but I know of an item I heard about from a friend called Displex. He had a PSP with lots of tiny minor scratches and he used it with success. You might want to give that a try.

Scratch on LCD screen of the monitor

Unfortunately, most lcd panels have a polarization filter in the front, this looks like a plastic coating that is actually in front of the glass of the lcd panel, if it's scratched, there is no real way to fix this problem other than replacement.

Repaire scratches on a lcd flat screen

The eraser method is even better than I first thought.
I acquired my first scratch some weeks back, tried the eraser method, and was quite pleased with the results, as my scratch was approx. 80% less visible, a faint grey line visible only on very light or dark coloured backgrounds, instead of the glaring black line it was at first.
Today my monitor toppled again (I really must tether the damn thing to something next time) creating - gulp - a new and even larger scratch. Oh, no... But whodathunk I'd end up happy I got the 2nd scratch? Oddly, I am happy, 'cause I took the opportunity to lay the monitor flat, take my white eraser again , and really go to town rubbing both new & old scratches. Lo & behold, both scratches appear to be now virtually 100% invisible or gone. My 2-scratch monitor is better now than it was as a one scratch one! I'm now convinced it's partly, largely, or completely due to the heat from friction of rubbing the eraser across the scratch, plus pressure applied, that does the trick. The heat must soften the plastic surface making it malleable, and the pressure of rubbing smooths out the jagged scratch edges, making the scratches disappear.
-So, if at first your eraser doesn't completely eliminate your scratch, try, try again! Keep working on it - harder!faster! And with luck, you'll get results like mine: complete elimination of two ugly scratches!

I use diluted brasso/silvo to polish the surface & clean with water or wet cloth note this works for cds & dvds.
