Question about Arris DCT6200 DTV Receiver

DVR won't play

When I tried to play one of the shows I recorded on my dvr, the screen just went black, and when I try to fast forward or rewind it just stays in the same spot. It won't do either one. It says that 2 hrs. are recorded but it won't play. How can I fix this?

    hi I am having the same problem - have been recording shows but when played back the screen is blank and it does not rewind or pay forward. help

    I tried to watch recorded programming, but my screen is black. The counter reads 0:00, and I can't fast forward. When I exit to go back to live TV the screen remains black until I change the channel. I can't rewind live TV anymore, either. I'm going to try unplugging it for 30 seconds when I get home, but I'm afraid that the hard drive may be shot.

    My DVR does the exact same thing...anytime I try to play any recorded programs on my DVR, the screen turns black, won't fast forward, and when I exit, it stays black until I turn the channel. I also can't rewind live tv anymore either. I have the same DVR - the Motorola from Time Warner Cable.

    I started having the same problem this morning with a Motorola DCT3416 and read in a couple other forums that unplugging it for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in should solve the problem. I just tried it and it worked! Hopefully the same is true for all Motorola models. Good luck!

    Verizon FIOS - DVR seems stuck cannot play anything. Tried the "reboot" box fix but still won't work. Will try the old hit it with a 3 lb line hammer soon......

    I'm having the same issue with my DVR. Also, only my HD channels are working through the box (they all work if I don't use the box).
    I was having this problem for a few days, then it started working today, and then stopped working again tonight.

    I set all my recordings to "delete when space is needed"  and yet it fills up and i have to delete old programs 1 at a time.  Also, i tell it only to record new episodes, yet it records all repeats, even when the word "repeat" is in the program description.  Finally, i would say roughly half of my recording have no audio, or a solid length of programming with nothing bu white noise for audio....what's the deal?!

    when i go to play my recordings, it simply pops up asking if i want to delete or not. it has done this a few times now on different tvs. I have tried rebooting and that isnt helping. any suggestions please?!

I hae a Motorola 6412 that had this problem. I turned it off, then unplugged it for 30 seconds. After turning it on I had to wait 1-2 minutes before I could acces the DVR, but it work now.

Woohoo!
I have been having the odd show get the "black screen" problem since we got our Motorola PVR and I assumed that I had done something wrong. Today all of our recordings wouldn't play so I came only for help.
So simple. I turned the power off for a few minutes and now everything works again. Almost looks like the system even got an update to it?

I recorded on my DVR one of the show,but I can't play.I try to fast

Denon AVR-4306 + Motorola DCT-6416 Blanking


Hi Jim,
I tried connecting my dvr via component and optical to see if it was my hdmi or my dvr. Ended up being a bad hdmi plug in back of my amp. I was fortunate enough to have both style connections on my dvr. Hope this helps

Dvr not working. Won't record, pause rewind


Try unplugging the unit from the electrical outlet for about five minutes- much longer than required- and try it again. If this fails you will need a service technician to resolve the issue. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Direct TV DVR sound/no picture or pict. no sound


My Direct TV has no sound or picture but does show channel info at the top. Any help is appreciated.

Won`t Rewind


Do you still have the remote control? Try with the remote. If this works, the button of the camera is broken and have to be replace by a qualified technician. Good luck!

VHS tape won't play or rewind


I work at the History Channel and have  a VHS that had the same troubles. I need it desperately for the show I am working on. I tapped it on a table fast forwarded it and presto! Tape fixed, crisis averted. Thank you, Thank you, thank you.

Black screen


80% or more of the issues with your DVR can be resolved by unplugging the box for 90 seconds and plugging it back in. There are some features that will be avilable immediately, and others that will take time to download. IE: all of the quide. I can't stress this enough - reboot your DVR occasionally - just like your computer its hard drive might need this.

I have also seen the hard drive inside this box appear bad when it was actually a problem with one recording. In my case it was a recording on the wrong channel, one that did not broadcast anything in my market. I was unable to access any of my recorded programs and when I tried to play the one in question, the screen went black. I deleted the program and all was well.

Program prompting to be deleted before it was finished


Sounds like your DVR is running out of space try to free up some space on the DVR.Also there is a little bit of space at the end of the show after it prompts you to delete the show not much though.If you have plenty of space on the DVR simply increase the time it records by 3 minutes.that should take care of your problem.

SHR-1040 - rewind from end of footage??


I'm wondering if the firmware can be upgraded as that might be the easiest thing. My other thought was that putting the hard drive into a PC and trying to view the video might be a way to see it.
