Lanzar optidrive series 4000watts mono block digital compitition class amplifier

I have two subwoofers and on the amp for the speaker conection there is only one positive and one negetive. How do I hook up both of my subwoofers? Do I twist the two positive wires from both of the subs together and the same for the negetive?

The amp I have is a Lanzar optidrive 4000D mono Block.

    1x 2000 Watts rms @ 4 Ohms

    1x 3000 Watss Max @ 2 ohms

    1x 4000 Watts Rms @ 1 Ohms

It seems that it is only for one subwoofer? One positive and one negetive. How do I conect two subs to the amp?

If I get a set of subs that are Lanzar opti 1234D 750 watts rms and 1500 watts peak, 4 ohm dvc 12 inch, can I put more then 750 watts rms into each one?

  • seanoszal Jun 16, 2008

I'm going to get a pair of 12 inch Lanzar opti 1234D 750 watts rms and 1500 watss peak. At 4 ohm dvc..can i run more than 750 watts rms into the speakers? Someone told me that i can run up to 1500rms into each sub and they will be fine and pounding hard? Is this true? I have a Lanzar opti 4000D amp

O je, I think they are dual 4 ohms voice coils.

Thanks Paul. I'm getting the speakers next week. the ones I had I sold because they where only 550 watss rms ( vibe cbr 12 ) I did'nt want to fry them. I'll find out the name of the speakers maybe tonight and write back. The place where i purchased the amp also have the speakers that where designed for that amp I ordered them and they will not be in till next week but I'll ring them back and get all the specs.

Firstly, sorry to to tell you, but their is no such thing as a 4000 watt car amp. Google Ohm's law and RMS .

Check the owners manual or website to find the amps minimum impedance. Usually 4 or 2 Ohms. Next,
check the woofers impedance , If unsure check with a Ohmmeter,
It's actually the resistance, but close enough.

If they are 8 Ohm and you twist those wires together (parallel circuit) your amp will see 4 Ohms.
If they are 4 Ohms (paralleled) your amp will see 2 Ohms.
Do not connect in a series circuit (+ amp terminal to a + speaker terminal and that speaker - terminal to the other speakers + terminal and that speakers - terminal to the - amp terminal) .
It creates phase problems, and sounds like ****.

Most mono amps are really internally bridged stereo amps ,it's cheaper that way, but it limits how low of a impedance they will handle. Read the specs. Use the correct size connectors, scrape off paint for a good ground connection.Use the right gauge wire and above all. Fuse that power lead at the Battery!!!!!!!!
ps . if you have dual voice coils thats another chapter.
Good luck, Sumthin

    Hi seanoszal,
I need the specs. on the speakers if they are double voice coil.
( the impedance of each voice coil.) If they are single, see below.

Your amp is capable of running eight, 8 Ohm speakers at 1 Ohm, wired in parallel.
Or four, 4 Ohm speakers at 1 Ohm, again in parallel That is assuming that all the speakers are single voice coil.

Anyways, two 8 Ohm speakers in parallel will be 4 Ohms and Two 4 Ohm speakers in parallel would be 2 Ohms.
Any further questions, Let me know
    Regards, Paul

    Hi Sean,
You know have a few choices,
Remember I said you shouldn't wire speakers in series.
Great news, it does not apply to voice coils.
    Here's what you can do...

If you parallel the voice coils each woofer will be at 2 Ohms.
Parallel the woofers and you will have 1 Ohms, 4000 w

Series the voice coils and each woofer will be at 8 Ohms.
Parallel the woofers and you will have 4 Ohms, 2000 w

Try them both way's and see which you like better.
Use 12 gauge wire for everything and buy terminals large enough to accept the wire.
Let me know more about the enclosure, home built?
pre made? or did the shop build it ?
    3/4 MDF I hope,
The next step will be to seal, and stiffen the enclosure,
    properly.
Send me the speakers recommended enclosure size.
and I'll tell you how to make that thing bang better, without losing power due to box construction.
    Glad you finally got them.
Remember at those levels, they will cause permanent hearing damage. But the chicks dig it, and you learn to read lips ( lips are good ).
    Regards, Paul

It's over rated on it's specs and they run real hot when working hard. Make sure to located in an area with good air flow and away from material that may melt.

If i have a 4 channel 2000 watt amp, can i use 1600 watt wires if i only have 2 subs hooked up to it?

Yes, you will be fine. 4 gauge power wire is sufficient for a couple of reasons, the primary one being that most of the companies that are boasting 2000 watts for a 4 channel amp are off brand "web-retail only" companies, and they severely over rate the power output of their amplifiers. Secondly the supposed 2000 watts is peak power and not rms power. Peak power means how much power that amp can put out during absolue climax of the music or during a tone burst. RMS power is how much that amp will put out continously to your speakers or in this case, your subs. If you look at the spec sheet of that amp, in all actuallity you're probably only getting 200-300 watts rms even bridged.

On a side note, if you really want to push your subs hard, you might want to consider getting a mono block or "class d" amplifier and use that 4 channel amp to push your surround speakers. Class d/mono block amps are specifically designed to push subwoofers and will give you the most efficient power out and the best heat dissipation to withstand the output required to drive subwoofers. You'll get better bass and also more adjustability to tweak the sound levels coming out of your subs. Hope that helps.

your output of the amplifier have been distorted. I suggest you take this to a reputable service technician that has experience with lanzar OptiDrive old school Rockford Fosgate or Orion. These technicians are hard to come by nowadays but they definitely are worth the money that they charge. I happen to be one of those such technicians.

2 ohm speakers wont work on a lanzar max pro 4000 watt

The 2 ohm stable rating on the amp is PER channel meaning that you could effectively hook up a 2 ohm speaker or a 2 ohm load to each channel without the amp getting f"d up-butin bridged mode it will only be 4 ohm stable. to achieve a 4 ohm load with your sub the type x wire the coils in series that will get you at 4 ohms to run in bridged mono .But you will get the exact same amount of power if you wire each coil to one channel of the amp as bridged mono sees the sum of your 2 ohm channels combined-Hope that helps.

Look into competition lines of different manufacturers.... Massive Audio DMX, Soundstream, Atomic APX, Incriminator Audio Death Penalty Series, Kicker Solo X etc. In car audio, you have to pay to play. Dont expect a 100.00 subwoofer to take 2000W continuously.
Massive Audio offers a no questions asked warranty. Even covers blown voicecoils!
