Not windows 2000

Ihave window 98 and the computer does not allow the process instalation to take place, how can i fix this?

-- who is your internet service provider
-- what is the operating system of your computer?
-- is this working fine before or is this a brand new router

you may try this and see if this help solve your problem. make sure your computer is directly connected to the router

Step 1: Shutdown the computer.
Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable.
Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings
Step 7: test the Internet connection.

if this still didnot work, upgrade the firmware of your router

note:

configuring the router settings will depends who is your provider. if your isp is dsl you need to configure your ISP username and password on the router. if your router is a cable no need to change any settings on the router. it should automatically work

Your best method to retain the profiles is to join the domain during the upgrade installation process.

I am trying to install Printmaster Platinum 10 on a PC with Windows XP wihout any success. In the compatibility mode there is no option for Windows XP.
That program it's not compatible whit windows xp but you can try to install it on a machine whit windows xp whit thi istructions :
  1. mouse r-click on the installer
  2. select properties
  3. select compatibilites
  4. choose either Windows 98 mode or Windows 2000 mode
  5. click ok
  6. start the installation
if the installation process works fine follow this steps
  1. find the program directory under "C:\program files" or under "C:\"
  2. find the program executable (must be .exe )
  3. right click whit the mouse on the executable
  4. select properties
  5. select compatibility
  6. choose either Windows 98 mode or Windows 2000 mode

The drivers that are required are completely dependent on the hardware that you're installing the OS on. The OS itself comes with almost all the drivers it needs in order to have basic functionality. The easiest thing to try would be to go to the manufacturer's website and search their support section for driver downloads. Select the model computer you're reinstalling on and it should allow you to select which version OS you're installing. Pick Windows 98 if it's available. If it's not you'll have to resort to Google, but it would be possible that they didn't make Windows 98 compatible drivers for that particular hardware.

How do you optimize windows 98 for a dsl connection?
you either buy a new computer or install windows 2000 to the computer.

windows 98 is very limited in that sense. and its quite insecure to use that online.

I would say its not safe to use windows 98 on the internet, I would definitely NOT pay my bills on a windows 98 machine.

Since microsoft does not support 98 anymore, they don't fix any of the security problems that come up, so your computer is open to the internet for any hacker to drop by and take it over or steal your details.

I would highly recommend it that you either install windows 2000 to the computer or buy a new computer, or buy a used computer with windows xp, I bet you can get one of those for less than 100

To run the Microsoft Windows Installer if Norton AntiVirus was installed from the CD
  1. Insert the Norton AntiVirus CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If the installation program appears, then click Browse the CD
    • If the installation program does not appear, then double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop, and then double-click the CD-ROM drive icon.
  3. Double-click the MSI folder.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • In Windows 98/Me, double-click the WIN9x folder.
    • In Windows 2000/XP, double-click the WINNT folder.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • In Windows 98/Me, double-click the Instmsi.exe file.
    • In Windows 2000/XP, double-click Instmsiw.exe if you have Windows 2000/XP.
  6. In the next dialog box, click Yes.
  7. After the rollback has finished, then reinstall Norton AntiVirus.
    Follow the instruction in Reinstalling your Symantec program after a failed installation or after you see error messages to start the computer without any programs running on startup and then reinstall your Norton program.

If these steps do not fix the problem, then go on to the next section.

To run the Microsoft Windows Installer if Norton AntiVirus was installed from a downloaded version
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Find (or Search) > Files or Folders.
  2. Ensure that "Look in" is set to the drive where you downloaded Norton AntiVirus, and that "Include subfolders" is checked.
  3. In the "Named" or "Search for..." box, do one of the following:
    • In Windows 98/Me, type the following:

      instmsi.exe
    • In Windows 2000/XP, type the following:

      instmsiw.exe
  4. Click Find Now or Search Now.
    You might see many files with this name. Look for the file with this name that is located in either the Symantec_Norton_AntiVirus_2003 or the your Windows temporary file location depending on your version of Norton AntiVirus.
  5. In the Search Results window, do one of the following, depending on your version of Windows:
    • In Windows 98/Me, double-click Instmsi.exe.
    • In Windows 2000/XP, double-click Instmsiw.exe.
  6. In the next dialog box, click Yes.
    This will undo the changes that were made to your system during the first failed installation.
  7. After the process finishes, then reinstall Norton AntiVirus.

Windows 2000 won't recognise my current HD driver
you cannot up grade from win 98 to win 2000
There is too big a gap in technology to allow it to happen
you have to remove the win 98 operating system and install the win 2000 operating system
That basically means re-formatting the hard drive so save all files and folders to an external storage facility
once you install win 2000 the driver will be installed automatically

I have bouht hp deskjet d1500 series ihave fitted it but it said ihave to upgrade my computer to 200 from 98 please could you helpme thankyourita
  The problem is that this particular Deskjet does not have any software drivers that are compatible with Windows 98.  Only for Operating Systems that are running Windows 2000 or later. Which includes XP and Vista. The only alternative is to do some research on other printers and make sure that they will be compatible with windows 98.
 Of course, there is always an option to upgrading your computer to  Windows 2000 or Xp....
