From my experiences, it is either the back light or the back light inverter. Both are easily found on the net and are a pretty reasonable price to get your laptop back in working order. The inverter is rather simple to install, the actual back light you will need minimal soldering experience.

Try http://www.lcdparts.net/ for the parts.

it could be the brightness is too low, or it could be that the backlight failed on the screen.

The monitor might be 'dead' because the flyback transformer (specially primary section of it) is not working. You can try replacing it if it doesn't cost you too much...

In my Toshiba laptop there is a problem with backlight. Could you fix it ?

Yes it can be fixed with a new backlight if that's the problem. Start the computer and see if with a flash light you can see the windows xp starting up image or the desktop when it finishes starting. If so you need a backlight which looks like a small florescent light bulb. If not you could need a new LCD or video card or motherboard. You can test the LCD by hooking the pc up to an external monitor. If you can see the pc info then your video card is ok and your motherboard is ok. You need a new LCD.
Let me know if you need anymore help.

No. You will be able to use RAM hardware of the same brand and series, though. the Optima product you listed is hardware that increases your computer's Hard Drive memory.

have you tryed getting a cpu fan that connects stright to the power supply d type connector, might be an idea to try. does the pc boot up , out of curiosty. sounds like a duff conector on the mother board if it does. look on the mother board there might be another conneter socket on there for the fan , normally you can conect case fans to the motherboard , might work if you put it on there

My monitor will not come on on my inspiron 8500 laptop. It worked fine then after turning it off and back on the monitor wouldn't come on. I can hook it to a desk top monitor and that works. But how do I...

If the computer works with another monitor on it, it is likely a bad monitor. Try hooking the suspect up to another desktop to see if it turns on. If it doesnt turn on, you might want to call to get the monitor replaced

Labtop computer internal hard drive

The drive you have is a IDE, Ultra DMA 133, 4200 RPM.

If you are running XP or Vista you can purchase any brand hard drive. Size depends on what you want to spend. Recommend Maxtor. Just make sure it is IDE and for a laptop. Most computer retailers will sell them (BestBuy, Circuit City, etc)
