I just bought this Equity 44100 today and I am having a hard time setting the time. I plugged it in and it right away went to the right time. I wanted to move the clock to another spot and unplugged it. When I plugged it in again it just went to 12:00 and started to keep time from there. The est time is correct however but I am in pst. I have followed the directions on the instuctions but I must be missing something or doing something wrong. How can I adjust time and minutes when I need to? Thanks for any help. Monica
Hold the Alarm Set button down for about 5-7 seconds. The year will flash. Skip the year and date by pressing Alarm Set a couple times until the time is displayed. Use the Up and Down to change, then press Alarm Set one more time to save it. This clock is ****, by the way. I run into them in hotels and it makes me nuts as well. Very non-intuitive.
On the time lost issue...there is a button battery (CR2032) in a compartment underneath. That battery keeps the internal time so when the clock is plugged in, it "instantly" sets the time. Problem is, if the internal time is set wrong, then it instantly sets the wrong display time when it it plugged in. See procedure above to correct that.

Press and hold the "Alarm Set"

Do you mean you set the correct time initially and then gradually got faster? There may be a reset button on it somewhere,no guarantee. It will probably be a small circle that doesn't look like anything. If there is,press it with a sharp pencil or something just as small. If not,it's just the nature of the beast.I have a radio which slows down over time...and it's a BOSE wave radio and have to adjust periodically! That's about all you can do is deal with it.Sorry if you can't fix it. Good luck!
This solution from the answers below worked on my model 40007 clock today: If you hold down the button on top that says DST for like 10 seconds it will allow you to force change the time. Thanks. wd 11/21/2010
For any Equity clock, press and hold down the Alarm Set button. First the year will flash, if you don't care about the year, press the Alarm Set button again, if you do care about the year, press the arrow button (it could be an UP/DOWN arrow or a side arrow which is usually used to change from Centrigrade to Fahrenheit). Basically, you begin by pressing and holding the Alarm Set button, then you use the arrow buttons, then again press Alarm Set to go to the next thing you want to set. If you wait too long, it will not set it, so begin again. I do this all the time, esp when DST occurs as the clock, when manufactured did not have the rules for the new DST time.
To adjust this clock's time: Press and hold the Alarm
Set button for 5-7 seconds, and the year will
begin to blink, then press the "UP" or "DOWN"
button to set the year. Press the Alarm Set
button again to set the month by pressing the
"UP" or "DOWN" button. Press the Alarm Set
button again to set the day, again to set the hour
(be sure the AM/PM is correct), again to set the
minute, and once more to secure all in the
