Question about Creative Labs ZEN V Plus MP3 Player

Mono Sound Playing through Headphones

I've had my Zen since October 2007, and I've had the usual problems with it such as freezing/crashing, etc.
But the sound was working fine up until this morning, when I noticed the songs were playing in mono [that is, all of the sound was coming through one headphone and nothing out the other, instead of equalizing the sound through both]. At first I thought it was the headphones, but this was not the case. I have tried several pairs and even my speakers, but the device is still playing in mono.
My warranty has expired and I can't afford a new one. Any hope for me? Is this problem fixable, or is my Zen doomed for eternity?
I hope not =[
Thanks for the help!

Simplest solution, from experience: make sure your headphone jack is pushed all the way into Zen 3.5 output jack. Sometimes it will feel like it's clicked in but you need a little extra push to get it all the way in.
Another thing to look at: I pretty sure the is a preference setting that controls right/left balance (my son has my Zen right now). If you can find  this control, it could be set all the way to one or the other side.
Give it a try, or see if resetting zen helps.
Good Luck.

Sound works for radio not for music volume is up music is playing no sound from any headphones

Did you try plugging in a different set of headphones? If other headphones work, maybe you need new headphones.

Try playing music from your Sansa through the computer, while it is tethered. If you can do this, it may mean that the audio amplifier part of the Sansa is broken-- Usually this means, 'get another Sansa.'

Also, try gently wiggling the headphone plug to the left and right, while it is plugged in. If you get music on and off, its possible that the headphone connector on your Sansa has a broken connection. This is a VERY difficult problem to fix (without breaking or melting something else inside the case) and also usually means it is time to get another MP3 player.

How can i connect my creative zen with my pc if i connect creative zen vith computer i cant find it in My Computer

I had a similar problem after I had used my Zen a few times. I plugged the device into my PC and it sounded like windows was trying to connect to to the Zen but didn't make the normal two tone USB device connection sound. It was more mono-tone. I tried reinstalling the Zen Media Explorer and that didn't do anything. I later looked at the Zen under windows device manager and noticed windows marked the Zen as having issues. I right clicked on the device and picked un-install driver. I then unplugged the Zen and plugged it back into my PC to allow driver re-install. I was able to connect to the zen after that.

Creative ZEN running on UBUNTU

I've had the Zen working fine on various versions of Ubuntu - it's worth upgrading though.

I heard the KZenExplorer isn't really supported that much, I tend to use Gnomad2, it seems the option of choice.

Creative ZEN running on UBUNTU

Creative Zen uses MTP which is a Microsoft jobby. Gnomad will allow you to transfer files between Ubuntu and your Zen, and you should be able to find Gnomad under the Add/Remove option in Applications.

I'll make a full walkthrough and add it to my blog later today.

Creative ZEN running on UBUNTU

I posted a walkthrough for this on my blog here.

Basically Gnomad2 is the way forward. For anyone new to Linux in general, and Ubuntu specifically, the blog talks you through it. For those that have used it before, you know the drill - Add/Remove Applications, and get Gnomad from the Open Source applications.

You will need to format your mp3 player, either using the software that was provided when you brought it or using thy simple processudre through my computer.

If you don't know how to do is using the software do it the other way.

Follow these steps. Click "start" - "My Computer" - look for you mp3 player usually called "Removable Disk" right-click on it and click on "Format".

Allow your Mp3 player to format and upload songs on it again and see if the problems been fixed.

Good luck. Hope my solution was helpful.
