TV Problem When I turn on my Zenith r57w46 the screen automatically turns green and then black and a few seconds later the TV shuts off. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this problem before and what I could do to fix it?

some tvs have a menu where you can controll that there should be a menu button on your remote try doing that and switching the automatic shutoff to off

Unplug set and do not plug again---something has burned so there is a risk of fire---unless you are familiar with fixing sets consider having a tech come out or take set to a shop for a estimate.

It varies as to what is actually making the TV shut down. Shorting the connectors on the A.C. plug have nothing to do with it turning back on. Its just the fact you are unpugging it for a few moments.

Replace both of your convergence ICs they are STKs big black ICs will have part number on them.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

In that TV its usually a bad picture tube. The green element of the tube is shorting.

Hello Was wondering if you ever found anything out how to reset the IC Screen Numbers or what the factory numbers all are on the Zenith Rear Projection TV Model # R57W46? I have the same problem ! My 2 year old son, not knowing how he did it cuze only a technecian is suppose to get into this screen, but he did change numbers in the too. I called zenith themselves and no luck ! My screen is bowed , etc.. Any Help ?
