You can download this bootable ISO file and burn it to a CD, then restart your computer and boot to the CD and it will allow you to reset your password without having to reinstall Windows.

To boot to the CD, restart the computer and press F2 or the delete key to enter BIOS (key varies by machine). In the settings area find Boot Sequence and make sure that the CD Rom is above the entry called Hard Drive. This will ensure that the CD Rom boots before the Hard Drive does - hence this will boot your password reset CD.

Before you uninstall it, check on for the password recovery program.

There are 2 options if you have forgotten the password.

1)Turn the PC Off.

2)Now, as soons as you push power buttin to turn it ON, keep tapping F8 key

3)Select safe mode and enter.

4)Click on the adminstrator user and try to log in without typing any password.

If you are able to log in great otherwise Windows needs to un-installed and re-installed.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

How do I recover a password

Is this the home edition - if it is then the user and groups part of the snap in wont be available so you cant set it (im saying this as whenever ive come across the home edition its been replaced with the pro edition which does) so, assuming you can see the users and groups snap in (right click on my computer and go to "manage") down the left hand side you should see users and groups, click on users and youll see "administrator" on the im assuming youll be already logged in from another account - at this point you should be able to right click on "administrator" and "set password" - that's it.

How do I recover a admistrator password?

you can try to reboot the comp and while it is rebooting hit the F2 key repeatedly that should bring up the bios and you can (maybe ) shut down the need for a password the only other way i know of is to remove the small battery (looks like a watch battery ) , unplug the computer and hold the on off switch in (while unplugged ) for about 15 to 30 seconds . then re insert the battery and plug it in and turn it on . might reset bios password .

Are you sure the password is correct. If the fields are populated automatically and the password was changed at some point, it might be trying to use the old password.

What to do ,can't log on password required

You can salvage your old user account by logging on as the "Administrator" user. Once you're logged in as the admin, you can reset your old user password. The Administrator user (by default) is similar to a "superuser" and has the highest access level to reset any user password.
If you don't know what your Administrator password is, you can reset that by rebooting into Safe Mode.
The best option here is to reset your account password. You can do this using either 1 of the 2 methods suggested by Microsoft Knowledge Base article #321305. In my opinion, the second method described on this page is most likely the easiest route: Reboot Windows in Safe Mode. Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK: control userpasswords2 Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password. Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.
Good luck!
Side note: To access Safe Mode, Click Start -> Shutdown (or Turn Off), and choose 'Restart'. Once the computer restarts, press F8 repeatedly on the keyboard until a Boot Menu appear (this *must* be done before the Windows boot screen appears). Finally, choose to boot Windows in Safe Mode and press Enter on the keyboard.

You can reset a lost or "forgot Windows password" with 4 methods below:
1. Another valid administrator account which can normally log on.
2. A password reset disk or a repair disc, which is created in advance ( before you lost password ).
3. Third-party software to create a bootable password reset CD/DVD or USB, like "Windows Password Breaker".
4. Re-install. Will lose data.

Lost administrator pass and i have only access to my system my wife and i share the same computer. i dont know how but one of us or our grand daughter lost the administrator pass word and we only have...

so im guessing that your problem is that you want the Administrator password back?
in this case, there is one thing you could do. It's called "Offline NT Password and Registry editor" and you can download it here. You can use this program to change administrator passwords, elevate privilege levels and create new accounts with administrator settings. Read up on it, give it a go. Let me know how it works for you.

My wife, is having password problems

If you've simply forgotten your password, MSN Hotmail does provide at least one level of back-door that you can use to recover it - your alternate email address or secret question. If you don't have those, you're probably out of luck. Here's the approach to take when you've lost your password....

If your sign in to Hotmail fails, notice that there's a link immediately below the password field that states "Forgot your Password". Click it.

I have a lenovo y410 with windows vista premium

try loading or running another copy of Vista on the hard drive, this will overwrite the former but don't format the drive. this will copy ur work into a folder called "window.old", when you are through, go to this folder and transfer ownership of the folse, subfolder into the new administrator. this will not open the files until you click on the properties of every files, goto security, change the owenership to the new administartor, then allows ful acess to the file. NOTE, Installing new Vista program automatically overwrite old adminstartor, but not the files in it. Good luck
