Question about Goldstar DH304 Dehumidifier

Runs 5 min then quits

The dehumidifier runs about 5 minutes then shuts down. If I manually dial back to the off position then dial it to max, it will run another 5 minutes before quitting. I've cleaned the filter and the coils. Could it be the "full" switch?

goldstar 30 pint runs for 2 minutes, then quits. If I take the water container out and replace, it starts sometimes. mostly doesn't even start now. fairly new unit. help

No solution. Removing tub and re-inserting allows it to start up, then a minute later it quits... regardless of dial settings.

Hope there is an easy fix.

Thanks to the person who wrote "Yup, had the same problem. This is due to a bad humidity control switch (the white dial you turn on the front). It needs to be disconnected." You just saved me some much needed cash.

    Good deal! -Ken

I had the same problem! I cut the two white wires and now it works great. Thanks everyone!

I took the cover completely off mine so I could disconnect the white plug next to the blue plug in the electrical box. I didn't want to clip any wires in case i could get the correct part which seems to be a humidity sensor. I works great again. Just doesn't shut off until it's full which is no big deal. Easy temporary or permanent fix!!

I had the same problem with the unit not staying on. I also followed this suggestion (cutting the white wires leading to the humidity control knob) and it now runs continuously. I have no mechanical ability but was able to follow the instructions without a problem. My only concern now is having the system running when there is no humidity. Will it be safe? I unplug it when it isn't humid to be on the safe side. Eventually I'll have to buy a new humidifier, but this will work for now (it's only 2 years old). Thank you for help!

Had the same problem and I too cut the white wires leading to the himidity level switch. The unit came on immediately and has worked ever since (with same limitations as mentioned in the first solution post).

Yup, had the same problem. This is due to a bad humidity control switch (the white dial you turn on the front). It needs to be disconnected. If you are a do it yourself-er there are 2 ways to do so. Disconnect the white plug next to the blue plug in the electric box inside. (a lot of screws this way). Or (the easy way) remove the water tray from the front, unscrew the 2 black screws hidden by it, unseat the tabs from the front panel (one on each side, and two on top) then snip the 2 white wires that lead to the dial. (not the shut off light). You can't shut it off with the dial after this, but it will shut off when the water tank is full or when you pull it out. I am not a technician, I just like to fix things that cost me money.

Runs for a few minutes then shuts off, easy fix. First, remove water catcher and slide filter out and clean it. Then find the two screws that hold on the front panel remove front panel. Make sure the unit is un-plugged. The humidity control dial has two wires connected to it. clip the inner wire. This will keep the unit on full. You could replace the humidity control dial, but why bother?

Dehumidifier runs for approx. 15 min works fine then shuts off and doesn't come back on.

run it without the filter with a 1 part vinegar 4 parts water. then try it with a clean or new filter. You may need to run it a few (5-6) times before it stops shutting off by its self.

Zenith ZD30 dehumidifier - 1 1/2 years old stopped working had a half bucket oc colledted water in bucket when it stopped. I checked the fuse on the circuit board and have continuity.

Unplug from wall. Take the front cover off and disconnect the 2 wires that attach to the humidity control dial. Plug back in. If it works, the problem is the humidty control dial (mine just went bad). With it unhooked, it will run constantly, but will still turn off when the bucket is full. To turn off, simply unplug.

It starts with control set to max and it runs a couple of minutes and it stops so i turn the control to low and back to max it starts again and stops the same way the humidity is at 60+ so it should stay...

one of 3 possible problems, the control is faulty, you can bypass this with a jumper wire and see if it stays running, the condenser coil is dirty and is not cooling the compressor correctly and the condenser and evaporator coils need to be cleaned,i would do this first before bypassing the control, then possibly its low on refrigerant and the low pressure switch is shutting it down or the switch itself is faulty, please rate this if it helped you, thank you

Fan quitting on unit

Maybe the room is dry enough so the humidity sensor is turning it off?

If not, maybe the thermisensor(fuse) on the fan motor is failing?

Dehumidifier model M7DH65b 2A

Its too old where you are running the appliance - lift it up in the air or raise the heat in the room. This is *not* a low-temp dehumidifier.
