You can do it by plugging in a Firewire or USB cable into the camcorder and plugging it into the computer.

You will need a program to capture it. Pinnacle Systems Studio is a good one to because it will allow you to control the camera from the computer screen if you need to edit it.

Check you camcorders owner manual to find out which cable your camera works with.

Hope that helps

How to upload onto computer from Hitachi.DZ-MV550E

There's a lot of stuff that doesn't work in Windows 7, and this particular case is probably that the computer is not set up with the right connections to capture video from tape. Is it the same computer you were using previously, or a new one? If it's the same one, search online for capture software for Win7. If its a new computer, then use the old one to get all your tapes onto disk, bin the 11-year old camera and treat yourself to a new HD digital one. They're so cheap now.

Have an old Iomega Ditto tape drive Easy 800 and Ditto Tools software for Windows and Windows 95. Want to move data from old tapes onto Vista Op Sys and then onto a CD. Will this old software install on...

Is it possible to find an old computer running an old version of Windows, and then to connect the tape-drive to that computer, and then to copy the files onto a folder on that computer?

Then, if that computer has a network-card, you can "share" that folder, so that all computers on your network can then access that "shared" folder, i.e., to copy the files, and then to burn them to a CD-recordable.

Vivitar dvr 390H cuts out when looding and power won't switch off

The Vivitar DVR 390H is notorious for overheating. When the Vivitar has been on for awhile and/or it is being used heavily(uploading pics/vids to your computer, playing music, viewing videos, etc) it will overheat. The bad part is that it overheats fairly easily.

I have one of these and I do like it, but I mostly use it for its 20 GB harddrive as a backup harddrive. My suggestion is to try and make sure that the camera is not near something such as the fan on your computer, under a lamp, or near a wall when trying to upload pics/vids to your computer. Also when downloading/uploading things to and from this camera, do not try to move ALOT of files at the same time. Also, try to keep it turned off as much as possible when you are not using it. I suggest setting the "power off" to 10 minutes just to make sure.

I hope this helps!

Video8 tapes upload to computer

You need a capture card or firewire output in your camera (This is faster) these capture card bring a software also for editing. If firewire, there is Premier Pro for PC or Final Cut for MAc. Make sure you have the right output connector on your Camera.
