If your computer does not have a USB port on the front or back, you will need to purchase a USB-to-PS2 adapter. This is an example of one:

That may not be the best price or only place to get it, only an example. This will connect the USB cable of your mouse to the PS/2 port on the back of your computer.

It is possible that the cable is not making a good connection, make sure it is snug and that you have it facing the correct way. You may need to get a new cable. I hope this helped. Good luck and have a good day.

HI,
Go into the BIOS utility and set the BIOS to defaults, hit F10, save the changes and exit the BIOS, the computer will restart, see if that helps.

To get into the BIOS hit the Esc or Del key when the computers just starting up.

Good luck.

What version of Windows are you using?

Your hard drive is most likely not formatted. In Windows Vista, you will need to:

1. Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button getopencontent.aspx?assetid=4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33&documentset=en-us&renderkey=xml, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management.getopencontent.aspx?assetid=18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b&documentset=en-us&renderkey=xml If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. In the Navigation pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.
3. Right-click an unallocated region on your hard disk, and then click New Simple Volume.
4. In the New Simple Volume Wizard, click Next.
5. Type the size of the volume you want to create in megabytes (MB) or accept the maximum default size, and then click Next.
6. Accept the default drive letter or choose a different drive letter to identify the partition, and then click Next.
7. In the Format Partition dialog box, do one of the following:
• If you don't want to format the volume right now, click Do not format this volume, and then click Next.
• To format the volume with the default settings, click Next.
8. Review your choices, and then click Finish.

Computer freezes after start up!

It seems to be a virus attack. Place the boot disc on the CD-ROMand reinstall the OS by repairing option. If there is nothing of importance on the hard disk I would advise total format and do a clean install. This should solve all problems,,,,sodeep(remember to keep the MB CD handy tp load all the drivers after installing the OS)

Sdram capacity

its that 512 mb total capacity for your computer memory?? if so read this:
To find the total amount of RAM that can be added , subtract the amount of RAM currently in the computer from the maximum amount of memory the computer can hold. For example, a computer has 256 MB of RAM. If the maximum amount of memory the computer can hold is 512 MB, then 256 MB is the amount of RAM that can be added. this info from the HP website , to find out more , go to http://www.hp.com/support , enter the model number , and look for more information about your computer specs, hope this helps , please rate & thanks AJ
