IPod Classic 80 GB - Silver perpetually restarts itself after enabling auto sync.
I just bought a new iPod Classic 80 GB - Silver from Best Buy. I brought it home and, with autosync off, I added songs. The iPod worked as it should. After I selected autosync and disconnected the ipod after the update, however, the iPod began a cycle of hard restarts, making to the main menu for about 2 seconds when it restarts itself again. I ran diagnostics, running into no problems besides that for a few of the tests it needed firewire (FW) connection when it is clearly USB... anyway, I forced the iPod into disk mode and reset it to its original state. Again, I manually added songs to the iPod. It worked fine. Again, I tried to autosync again, and the iPod begans its cycle of restarts. It is no in forced deep sleep. What should I do?

I never heard of Apple putting out a 80 MG ipod touch.
You must have one of those cheap China knock offs.
The ipod touch comes in three flavors- 8, 16, and 32 GB
If you got an ipod classic 80 GB, then hold the center and Menu button same time until the Apple logo appears. This will reset the thing for you and you can try re-syncing. Otherwise, uninstall itunes 9 and go back to the update that was working. Just cause its a new update doesn't mean you gotta install it. If your system works, then don't fu.k with it.
The only way to save the files is by connecting it to pc and storing them in a file. Try checking the usb connection inside the ipod. If there are any broken wires or solder joints, re-solder them or anything you can do to get it to connect.
Try connecting it, go to control panel, the ipod should be able to found on the I: drive.
when it restarts, does it immidiately restart again? like a cycle? that happened to my old compputer, the hard drive was shot. mabe that's what happened to you. a new hard drive for apple classic 80 gb ipod i found was around $150-$170 ouch. take it to apple, ask them to run diagnostics, tell them you think your hard drive is worn out or something.

It works fine on my son's PC and my wifes Mac. Just not on mine. I have disabled the firewall. Tried all the various USB ports. I know cable is fine cause it works on other computers. I have latest in ITunes and have service pak 2 with XP. So needless to say I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this. HELP!!!!
