M-Audio Keystation 49E 49-Key Entry-Level USB MIDI Controller with Session Recording Sof Logo

I bought used M-AUDIO Keystation 49e. I couldn't check it, and later I found that a range from E2 to F3 doesn't operate. I opened the keyboard and found that something had been spilled on it. I cleaned it up but the problem persists. I believe that the block EK49.04.A04 (or a chip on it) is damaged. My question is: can I order a replacement for this part and where? Thanks.

SOURCE: Problem with "M-Audio 49e keystation"

The 49e has been a real pain--especially if you have previously used another M-audio controller on the same machine. I just spent 3 hours to get mine working on XP (with a Creative sound card). In summary--for my machine--Windows XP kept putting the old WDM driver back (vintage 2001), even though I installed the M-Audio. I had to finally use the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' and force it to install the non-certified M-Audio drivers that were supposedly installed when running the M-Audio installer. (Skip internet search, and browse to M-Audio folder in Program files, it will eventually find them.) There are two M-Audio USB drivers that need to be 'forced' via New Hardware Wizard. But Windows thinks its drivers are a better match and even though 'device is working properly' it doesn't get recognized in your software. After I go rid of the WDM drivers and replaced them with the 2 USB ones from M-Audio, my DAW finally recognized the keyboard. I even went through regedit to clean up all the M-Audio stuff so I could get a fresh install. I don't know if this makes enough sense, but good luck.

I just found this in the M-Audio forums. I've just called the number and left a message at M-Audio requesting a callback. I'm really hoping that tech support will have a solution for whatever is causing this malfuntion. . . I'll post here again when the parts come.

The piano wizard software won't recognize keyboard

you should go to your  utilities --> audio midi setup and make sure your system is recognising your midi device. Play around with your midi settings, see if you can get something going.
Otherwise the problem maybe with the software clashing with Leopard. Double check on the manufactures website that their software is compatible with 10.5.6, or they may have an update for you.
Thirdly you could check if you keyboard is working correctly by opening garage band and making a new software instrument track, press record and see if you get any thing.
Good Luck hope this helps.

M-Audio Keyboard 49e disfunctions after some time

Sounds like it might be a power supply issue. Unless it is mains powered.

Try removing all other USB devised. If that doesn't work its worth try a Mains Powered USB hub.
