Kitchenaid removing icemaker

I have a kitchenaid superba model ksrs220gwh00, the ice maker is not working and i've pour hot water in and removed the ice that was there. it's still not working, does not seem to fill with water just the water I use when i pour it in. i've also notice that the tray is gotten a bunch of **** in it which i'd like to clean out.. how do I remove the ice maker and give it a good cleaning without damaging the unit. maybe a module or something is gone but i'd like to get this unit out. do i need to unplugg the fridge before removing it? is there a manual available to show me directions., I'm trying to do this on my own, my husband has no clue so any help would be appreciated. thanks

Hi It's in the fridge, I was able to get this off myself and I don't think it's calcium I think it's some sort of coating on the icetray that they must use so the icecubes don't stick. I can't seem to figure out why it's not working. I cleaned everything up the best I could and put it back in but it's still not working. Do you think the module could be gone? thanks for the quick response. My icemaker is in the freezer compartment....

Thank you, I will give that a try. Maybe I'll let my husband do it because I certainly don't want to get a shock. I think it's probably the module because the tray is full but it's not emptying the ice. If I have anymore trouble I'll let you know. Thanks again.

I am having the same problem but the freezer has been turned off for sometime (no one living there until now) so a frozen line is not the issue for me. The ice maker control blink orange whether it is turned on or off...what do you think?

On it as to you ice it is on a separate valve as the water in the door so the water flow don't mean a lot in this case remove the front plastic cover on the icemaker and you will see a bunch of little holes make a jumper wire out #10 or 12 house wire strip about 1/4 inch off the ends an insert in the holes marked t&h this will start a test cycle make sure you hold the plastic insulation so you don't get bit if the ice maker starts cycling remove the wire and watch for it to stop listen for the icemaker valve to open if the ice maker finishes and the valve didn’t fill replace the water valves if the icemaker doesnt cycle and you may have to kind of twist the jumper back and forth to get it to make contact depending on the gauge you used then replace the ice maker motor module if you hear the valve open and the ice maker doesnt fill check for a frozen ice fill tube that should do it

I need you to pour tap water into the ice maker to the top. Let water freeze and if the ice maker cycles and drops the ice into the ice bin and then does not refill the problem will most likely be the=> W10408179 Water Control Valve

If the ice maker does nothing and water control fills the ice slots the problem will point to the=> 8201515 Ice Maker Module

I will be here and glad to answer any questions you may have, Thanks Sea Breeze

Frigidaire Superba Ice maker - no water flow

Testing the ice maker:
As far as the smaller line (1/4") you have to manually advance the ice maker and wait for it to call for water with the 1/4" line disconnected from the valve. For whirlpool and its subsidaries, you can do this by getting a jumper wire, removing the cover of icemaker, which you jsut grab and pull off, and using the jumper wire insert one end of the wire into the cirle marked m and the other in the cicle marked n. Leave there until you hear a click and sometimes see a little spark behind the modular head wheel. For GE, you turtn the ice maker off, wait about a minute then turn back on, water should automatically shoot water in the icemaker. That will tell you the water valve is good and icemaker is bad, or the ice maker is good and the valve is bad if no water. Also if you see ice in the maker that hasn't dumper and the teeth of the icemaker are facing any direction other than two o clock position, the icemaker is bad. Also check the fill tube to be sure the no ice is blocking water from coming in.

Icemaker not working...

Hi, first , pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If if freezes , and dumps , replace the water valve. If it does not dump the cubes , replace the ice maker. After pouring the water into the ice maker , remove the bottom kick panel , and clean the bottom coils , of dust , lint , pet hair , etc , as this will raise the freezer temp . An ice maker has to be 5 degrees , to operate , correctly . If ice maker starts working , after cleaning the coils , GREAT ! ( it does happen ) .

Take care

Icemaker isn't working. Hot water pouring out

Most ice makers do have a defrost element below the ice maker. The problem you described is strange. I would like the model of the refrigerator and brand name. Unplug refrigerator and remove ice maker from freezer compartment now. If water continues to flow you may need the service line that feeds refrigerator turned off until I get your model number. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Icemaker stuck in 'vacation mode'

Feel inside the ice slots are there any old cubes that have evaporated in time? Take the ice maker out and clean it up and place it back inside to see if it will fill with fresh water. Take a hair dryer and melt the old ice inside the slots and see if it will try to fill. I will wait for a response from you.

Kitchenaid KSCS250SS not producing ice

From my experience, a frozen water line coming into the icemaker indicates a bad water valve/solenoid.

The solenoid is usually located at the bottom of the rear of the unit.

The icemaker arm could be a culprit if it was detached somehow, and was really in the stop mode. But, that would not cause the ice build up in the water tube.
