Question about Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 for PC

1 Answer

Internet/spyware When I am on certain internet pages, I get rerouted to the dell/google search page that says page not found, and it is looking for afe.specificclick.net/.... even when I didn't click on anything to get me there. I wasn't running anti-virus before, but I just bought Kapersky 7.0 and ran it and it didn't find anything. Any ideas? when it brings up the search page, some of the "ads" for searches show spyware info, but wouldn't the kapersky have found that?

Ok first off this antivirus program isn't the best. You might try going to the following website and download this free version of AVG Antivirus http://free.grisoft.com/ This program works great and best of all it's free. With spyware issues it's always better to have a few spyware programs installed because they don't all find everything. Some will find what other wont and vise-a-versa. Good luck with whatever you do.

How do I get google search to be my default search engine when another search bar from a software I downloaded has taken over my browser?

Since you're using IE7, please click on TOOLS which can be found at the top left part of your screen, select INTERNET OPTIONS, then you will see a small screen pop up, make sure you're on the GENERAL tab. Under this tab, look for HOME PAGE, underneath it, there's a box where you can set your default home page. Please type in http://www.google.com then click on APPLY then OK on the lower part of the screen. Please take note that in case you optimized or reset your IE7, all settings will be back to default.

Google search goes to incorrect sites

You need to be more specific. When you search on google does it show a results page? Or does it take you to a different site?

If it take you to a different site other than google, you could have spyware on the machine, if google just show random search results, you can try resetting your internet explorer.

HI,
You can go to the following link and just click on fixit
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737/en-us

The Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature restores the following items to their default settings:
  • Home pages
  • Search scopes
  • Browsing history
  • Form data
  • Passwords
  • Appearance settings
  • Toolbars
  • ActiveX control

When you reset Internet Explorer settings, all add-ons and customizations are deleted, and you basically start with a fresh version of Internet Explorer. This article helps you reset Internet Explorer.

Can't open google or yahoo search pages, i keep getting the time out white page. I can access all other web sites just can't do a search on google or yahoo

Sounds like adware or spyware (any kind of badware in your computer) is the issue. Perhaps a simple problem on the browser configuration is the issue.
You may try to download Firefox to see is you have the same problem. Have your computer updated (from the Microsoft Updates) and run the Malicious removal Tool (Click Start - Run - Type: MRT and press enter).

Good luck.
