I have an Integral webcam on my 5101 laptop, the laptop was purchased in february 2007 with XP Media Edition Pre-installed. When I purchased the laptop it came with a voucher for a free upgrade to Vista Premium, this upgrade I received in due course and recently decided to install the Vista upgrade.
Since I have installed the vista upgrade my orbicam has ceased to work. I am aware that there is a patch to resolve this called 'bison' i think. Would you be kind enough to inform me as to what I have to do to acquire the relevent patch/software to get my orbicam working on my Vista Home Premium package?

The Acer OrbiCam is a built-in 1.3 megapixel webcam mounted at the top of certain Acer laptops. The webcam can record video clips and integrate with instant messaging software. If you are trying to use your Acer OrbiCam but it won't connect, the driver--a small software file that tells the webcam what to do--may be outdated. Acer provides webcam driver update pages for the Aspire 9300 and Aspire 5570 versions.
1.Go to the Acer 5570 or Acer 9300 Driver Download page (see Resources). 2.Click "MS Windows XP" or "MS Windows Vista" on the drop-down menu, depending on your operating system. 3.Select "Acer OrbiCam Bison Driver" from the menu. 4.Click "Save File > OK" and wait for it to download. 5.Double-click on the downloaded setup files to install the driver. 6.Go back to the Acer Downloads page, and select "Acer OrbiCam Driver Bison Utility 184.108.40.206" from the drop-down menu. 7.Click on "Save File > OK" and wait for it to download. Double-click on the downloaded setup files to install the driver. 8.Restart the computer.
I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya
Been there. You need the driver in the Acer Site. Note !! you need the Acer Orbicam WHQL Driver as well as the Acer Orbicam Utility. The Orbicam webcam is a USB device. Pls follow this steps in sequence. 1. Install ChipSet/Lan Support. 2. Install Acer Orbicam WHQL Driver 3. Install Acer Orbicam Utility.
** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that
folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.
If that does not work then do this:
Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering Technology then Acer E-Recovery - The look at the bottom and you will
"Backup", "Burn disk" and Restore" choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say
extracting) - once extracted - click Install or Guides and Manuals if needing Orbicam instructions - click Vista or (XP) on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the
right side of the screen, then look for Bison driver or (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) you have then click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions. Then repeat steps above and instead of driver choose Bison (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) Utility
just double check that you havent loaded the Bison camera driver or the Vista driver as your system doesnt list the orbicam as being fitted, but you obviously have so go to the link below and download the logitech driver, as this is what i used
