Question about Pioneer VSX-D608 Receiver

Now sound after poweer failure

I was watching a movie last night when we had a power failure. When the power came back, I had no sound in my speakers. I plugged in headphone and I hear the signal - but very low volume. Can you suggest if there is something I need to reset due to the power failure? Is there anything else I might check?

Thanks, Rich

Check its speaker. If it is found OK, check and replace the damaged component/s in audio output section circuits.

I have a VSB200. It worked until last night. No sound coming out of it now.

I have the same sound bar and in the middle of watching a movie, it just stopped working. I came to the conclusion that it was the optical hookup on the back of the speaker that had an issue. The problem with the entire situation is that I had only owned the sound bar for around two to three weeks and only watched around four movies on it until this problem. Either a fluke or bad quality. Check your optical connection if that is what you have it hooked up to.

The unit probably experienced a power supply failure, and will have to be troubleshot. You should contact Yamaha to find an authorized repair facility near you. Here's their support site:
http://usa.yamaha.com/support/
You also contact a local repair shop. Make sure you get an estimate first, since repair can be costly.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Possibly you just need a new power supply/battery charger. There is nothing "magic" about the original power supply. Take the player into an electronics supply shop. They should be able to look at it and match

Did you recently move any speakers around or any items near the speaker wire connections?
It sounds like you may have a speaker wire shorting which is causing the receiver to go into "auto protect" mode. Check all of the speaker wire connections on the back of the receiver and at all of the speakers to make sure the wires are not touching or close enough to possibly touch.

Laptop Sound Problem - Muffled!

The DVD players in laptops are asked to do alot. First I would try is that movie on another DVD player - wtch closely to see or here any abnormalities in the the same location. Your DVD laptop player may very well be bad. Better to get it checked out under warranty. When you take it or send it make sure you tell the tech where exactly the movie goes muffled and if you can send or give the movie to the tech.
