Model 20605 Probably very old. First time using it in new home. How do I open the inside door? Is there a latch someplace? Is there a place I can get a manual?

Welcome to FixYa.

The Asko 20605 washer is an older model indeed, but not as old as you might think, the serial number would indicate it's actual manufactured date but it is in the neighborhood of late 90's early millennium.

Those particular electronic control models have a button on the front which unlocks the door if the power is "on".

For a more detailed explanation I've tried to copy & paste a clip from my service info.

The door can also become "stuck" closed if in-active for a period of time with the door in the closed position as it will stick to the rubber seal around the basket opening. You may need to pull slightly on the door as you push the lock switch to unlock it.

Let me know if this clears up the matter for you and I'll try and assist you in whatever manner I can going forward...if need be.

Thank you for choosing FixYa for your inquiry. Good luck.

Welcome to FixYa.

Sorry to hear about your trouble shooting problems. I hope I can help move you forward in the right direction.

Have you run a self-diagnostic which is built into the Asko washer's control ? Furthermore, Did you initially receive an error code of "F6" ?

What led to the changing of the brushes in the motor, and was the motor windings ohm value checked to confirm or dismiss the motor was worth brushes ? The armature inspected ?

This how to run a fault tracing program ( in the event you don't know )

What you will/should see...

Let me know what you've done or found to this point and I'll try to help in whatever manner I can. It is possible the motor control board is the fault, but there is a means to get to that point first.

There was also a period of time during production some of the controls had the wrong fuse placed in below for memo.

This is not very likely considering the age of your machine, however I felt it was worth mentioning. I'll watch for your next post.

Asko 20605 washer stopped mid-cycle, now no power?!

The ECU should be tested. Look for the service manual inside the chassis for troubleshooting procedures.

I am a technician for Asko in Australia. The blackness on the motor control unit(circuit board) is probably carbon dust from the carbon brushes in electric motor.Likely problem is motor brushes have totally worn the armiture in motor or the MCU needs replacing due to earth leakage or short.Purchasing the parts from Asko should be no problem, but if you purchase and install electrical componenents only to find problem unresolved, you can't return installed parts for a refund. Also the breather hose from the detergent dispensor to outer tank can leak from tank connection when spinning load , and result in water running down outer tank and onto the electric motor causing circuit breaker to trip.....possibly damaging motor too. Goodluck!!

Excessive vibration during spin cycle

If this is the only problem be thankful ,its capable of a future of problems. I my self would not recommend putting 1 more dollar into this machine.Your next concern is a high dollar repair that may be soon coming ,that is a circuit board problem.

F6 on an asko washer means a fault was detected with the motor. What this means 99% of the time is the brushes in the motor are worn. As long as the armature isn't damaged, (visual inspection while turning motor shaft should identify damage) you'll be fine replacing the brushes.

part # 764414, 2 required, about $40US each (better than $400US plus for a motor).

hope that helps

good luck
