Depending upon what the problem is, parts should still be available for units of this age. Please update this with the model number as well as the problem and I should be able to give you details.

What is the problem you are having?

You have defective componnts in the preamp or output sections. Is the level of noise effected by the volume control? If not, the problem is in the output amp section and is probably a defective transistor in the driver stage. This should not be an expensive repair. If the noise level is effected by the volume control, the problem exists in the "front end" and will be a little more difficult to trace. That being said, the cost to repair should not be high. Figure on $15-25 for parts plus the local labor rate for the repair cost.

The Aiwa Corporation is a consumer-electronics company from Japan which started in the early 1970's. It has its momentary popularity in the country for the comparable quality of its appliances particularly audio equipment at cheaper prices. In early 2000, the company plummets towards insolvency and was acquired by the biggest electronics company in the world, Sony Corporation.
Aiwa was given a new lease of life as a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony. In 2004 however, 2004 Sony has shelved its support for the Aiwa brand as manufacture and distribution of Aiwa products were discontinued. Similarly in the Philippines, the Solid Group Inc. (SGI), the local company in charge of the marketing, sales and service of Sony products had also put off the marketing and distribution of the Aiwa appliances.
By 2006, Aiwa products were no longer sold in the market around the world. Technically therefore, there exists no Aiwa Service Center anymore. However, Sony, its mother company and the Solid group in the Philippines may still provide repair services for Aiwa products. For service repairs of your old Aiwa appliances, you may call 330-1111 for service inquiries or email customercare@solidservice.com.ph. You may also contact the Sony customer hotline no. 02-8787600 or 09178077669 or email info.sph@ap.sony.com.

Can I use a turntable with the Yamaha MCR-040DG Micro Component System? There does not appear to be a standard auxiliary port to plug it in to.

You can register with Yamaha and download the manual.

If your unidentified turntable does NOT need a phono preamp (*) you can adapt its cables and use the front panel PORTABLE input.

Jvc protect

Protect mode will kick in whenever a fault is detected.

You get the unit not powering up, and sometimes you hear a clicking noise, that is the protection switch that keeps shutting down the unit.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.

Regards.

The repair manual can be purchased from Sony. What is the specific problem. Perhaps a manual is not needed.

Hi Jah,
I would suggest that you obtain a copy of the service manual for this audio system.
The service manual will provide you with all the components used and their specific part number then you can order the part from the manufacturer or the local supplier of electronic parts.
A good source of manuals can be obtained at:-
http://www.user-manuals.com/
or
www.hisierrahifi.com
