Refrigerator Keeps running

I've got a beverage-air worktop refrigerator (model WTR 48A) that seems to run full blast constantly. Even when I turn the thermostat to off it keeps on running? Can this be fixed by simply replacing the thermostat or is there more to it?

The thermostat sounds bad. It should turn off the compressor when turned all the way to the left. On some units the fan by compressor will stay on when compressor is off. Keep that in mind. If your thermostat is stuck closed the unit should be running too cold. I can hook you up with a thermostat. :) www.northeastcooling.com

Replacing the thermostat should correct the problem. Be sure to install the thermstat exactly as the one you are removing, assuming it hasn't been changed prior. Hope this helps

  • Sounds like your thermostat is stuck or bypassed. I would start with replacing the thermostat. The part # is 502-302b. You can order from your local repair service.

SOURCE: fan runs all the time

The inside fan has to run all the time. It turns off it will not keep things cold. Not the fan outside in the air it shoulc cycle with the compressor.

SOURCE: beverage air dd58 kegerator won't stay cold

the freon system is a sealed system. If you are adding freon, there is a leak. have the leak repaired and this should resolve the issue. Freon should not need filling but one time and only after the leak is located and repaired.

SOURCE: I have a beverage air kegerator that seems to work

as a general rule, coolers have the fans run 24/7. Freezers will have the fans shut off during the defrost cycle. If unit maintain temp., I'd not be concerned by it.

Air channels freezing? they might be blocked with foreign matter, clean them out. This might also be as simple as turning down the dial for how much you wish to cool the unit. Running it constantly at full blast is not a good idea.

Is it normal for the fan to run all of the time? Even when the compressor is off.

Good day,
If it is a beverage cooler, then yes, that is normal. It allows the temp to remain constant from top to bottom. Domestic refrigerators as a rule shut the fan off with the compressor, but on most any commercial cooler regardless of it's application keeps the fans running all the time.

I have a beverage air kegerator that seems to work fine, but the evaporator fan runs constantly. Is it supposed to run constantly, or is it supposed to cycle on and off with the compressor, etc.?

Most evaporator fans run all the time. This is mainly to use the air flow to assist in melting off any frost build up during the compressor off cycle. If that fan shut off with the compressor the coil will have a tendency to freeze up. :)

Fan in cooling compartment

The fan inside the unit should run all the time, this insures a more constant temp throughout the compartment by keeping the air moving.
