my battery light flashes 3 red 1 green - started yesterday
    - I have removed the battery and tested it using the test button and get 5 green lights (Ok?)
    - I have tried removing the battery when running - keeps working fine but when restored the flashes continues from where it left off
    - I have tried same with computer completely off - when battery restored and restarted just goes back to flashing again
    - that seems to leave the dischange battery option and put in fridge over night - see D600 solutions to this problem - will try that next

I have an extra longlife battery 4hrs or so (now showing 98%-99% and charging!)
I have a warrenty - is the battery covered if faulty?

Second light from the left is blinking orange on my asus.
The icon looks like a broken battery or a broken screen. I am not sure of how to fix it.

Battery is shot, time for a replacement. Keep in mind that a Dell battery can aquire a dead short, this won't hurt the system, but it can keep the machine from starting up. If you find that your machine won't start up try pulling the battery.

Lenovo r61i has just started to shut down if I try to run it with the power supply attached. When I run the computer on the battery only it does now shut down until the barrry runs out of juice. Why?

If you are running Windows 7 or 8 there is a power setting that you can change to tell it when to shut down the screen or go to sleep. Click on the power icon in the lower right task bar. You will see something like power settings. Also you will see when to shut down the screen, for both battery an electric. You can make changes there an fix problem. I just did this a week ago an fixed the same problem.

On the bottom ther is two Zz what is it and what dose it do also how do i turn it off fn + f1 is not working

The zz mean that the computer is in sleep mode. Pressing the fn+F1 keys actually induces the sleep mode for your pc. To turn off sleep mode, follow these instructions.

1. Go to the task bar in the lower right corner of your screen.

2. Right -click on the battery icon and select Power Options.

3. This will bring up the Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options window.

4. On the left hand side of the window, select "Change when the Computer Sleeps"

5. This will bring up the Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings window with options for different settings on the battery and plugged in.

6. Click on the arrow for the drop down menu next to Put the Computer to Sleep>Select Never (last option) do this for both plugged in and battery mode if this is your choice.

7. Click on Save Changes.

3 lights o right hand side of laptop what do they mean

The user manual will supply an in-depth explanation of the led-indicators, aswell as there are normally small icons assigned to each light, sometimes engraved in the plastics, normal lights to be active at average usage are the Power led indicator, will glow as long as device is turned on, the Wireless led indicator will glow when the wireless network module is active, the CPU led indicator will flash occasionally when system is idle, and rapidly when system is active under load, and the Battery led indicator will be active when device is running on battery power. When device goes into sleep or hibernate mode the sleep led indicator might continuously glow or slowly switch on & off varying between systems.

Doenst work at all with low battery (about25%) screen goes black and nnothing works

It sounds like your computer is set to go to sleep or hibernate when it reaches 25%.

You can check in your power options (Start ->Control Panel -> Power Options on windows XP)

I have had three different laptops, last one an XPS from DELL which did the same thing. Replacing the battery solved all three laptops. How old is the battery you have in there now?

Flashing icon at the top right of my Dell Inspiron 6400

The first thing I would try is to get a new power adaptor. You can find a OEM on ebay probably for about $20. Just type in your model number on the search section on ebays homepage.

Red Flashing Icon

The icons from the left: 1. Power indocator 2. Hard Disk indicator --> it is a tube icon, not battery, but means hard drive. 3. Power Source indicator 4. Bluetooth indicator
The third from left means the power source indicator. Normally it is light green. If there is battery problem (can not charge or battery overload) it flashes amber/orange. If flashes red, it indicates that the battery power is low. You need to change the battery or connect the AC adapter.
