My. Compaq touch pad and buttons stopped working. Running win 7

ok, do you run 2 mice?
USB mouse,? or wireless mouse if yes that is the problem ,, is yes say so , we fix that. or remove that.
I cant see you PC so i must beg for facts.
did pc come with Windows, 7?
no PC stated. so..>????

to make the touch pad work, go to hp.com
go to your pc, unstated\
go to the OS , w7 for that PC,
and load the touch pad driver

if HP does no support your PC on W7 then that is a big problem
they can help you can they.?
so then we get more complex, we must find out exactly what touch pad you have ,then go to that maker and get a driver

is PC on the internet now.
yes.
then go to device manager,
click the touchpad listing and remove it or click update this driver.
if lucky W7 finds the driver best and replaces it.
and it now works, this is called Plug and PRAY.

Touch pad not working

Did it work for you before? what has happened since then?some laptops have a way to disable the touch pad so you won't accidentally move the cursor while typing. It may be a switch on the computer itself, or a LED in the corner of the touch pad, or it may be one of the Function keys (does any of them have a symbol of a mouse with a circle and one diagonal line indicating "no mouse") If so, push the fn key plus which ever function key has that symbol beside it.Some laptops automatically disable the touch pad if a USB mouse is plugged in.If none of these is the problem, you may not have a touch pad driver installed. Get a USB mouse to plus in until you get the driver installed. Go to the web page for the manufacturer for the laptop. Search for your model in the support section, and look for drivers. Download the appropriate driver for your touch pad and your version of Windows, and install it.Buying a USB mouse or a wireless mouse may be a valid solution no matter what the problem is if you like a real mouse.

My touch pad wont work

please try to un-install and re-install the driver for the touch-pad. if that doesn't work then you have a bad touch-pad and it needs to be replaced. or you can use a usb optical mouse instead. refer to local service tech for parts

Touch Pad setup with the usb mouse installed for easy navagtion
check the device manager for mouse mouse and other devices
look for nthe touch pad label
look see if it is running ok and enabled.
Make sure it is.
Go to control panel open the mouse icon

Here is where the controles for external and internal mouse settings will be found.

Mouse wont move

Are you referring to the mouse pointer when using the touch pad? To isolate the problem, try to use a USB mouse and see if the pointer will move. If the USB mouse works, then the touch pad could be disabled.

Refer to the user manual of the laptop and see on how you can enable the touch pad.

If same problem occur even though you're using a USB mouse, contact the manufacturer of the computer for second opinion or repair.

Good luck and have a great day!

Lenovo n500 laptop ... mouse pad not working

The mouse pad maybe faulty or the ribbon cable from the mouse pad to the motherboard may not be properly connected. Reseat this cable.
You can connect an USB optical mouse to the laptop. I prefer you use a USB mouse all the time over the mouse pad.

My aspire 5310 mouse pad is not working

either your mouse pad is broken or someone or some program has shut off the driver for your touch pad. I would reinstall the drivers and reboot. if that doesnt fix the issue, I would then look into replacing the pad.

Its starts in safe mode, and the touch pad wont respond

the touch pad could have simply failed, most OS will interpret the mouse pad as a mouse to make it work, so if its gone its most likely not working, I mouse attached to a usb or one of the ps 2 connections might give you a mouse back temp you can replace most mouse pads.
hope this helps
