Yellow streak through color image scan

When I scan color, it doesn't matter where I position the item to scan, I get a yellow streak through the scan. The streak is so bad that I can even adjust or tone it out of my photo. The scanner is an Epson Perfection 3490 Photo scanner, only 2 years old. It used to work great. Can you tell me what is wrong and how to approach fixing it? Thanks so much.

Hi there, I also have a colour scanner that is suddenly doing the same, but the yellow colour is getting darker and darker. Before I could crop it out but the area is also increasing.

I would like to know how to solve this too. I can't scan anything with colored images without having yellow through it and i have a canon canoscan 8400f.

We are having the same probem, with our canon canoscan 8400f.

When we scan any coloured images they come out all yellow. Black and white is fine but colour is useless!

Any ideas how to fix this problem?

I have an HP All-in-one sheet-feeder scanner that leaves dark yellow streaks through every color scan. B&W scans are fine.

Sounds to me like either a faulty yellow toner cartridge (try replacing it) if the drum is integral with the toner this should clear it. Otherwise you may need to replace the yellow image drum.

Light yellow streak down the center

there is a prism in between 3 lcd panels that the light shines through for the image. each lcd panel has a color filter between it and the prism. after a while the filter will fry, creating the discolor on the image. unfortunately, you cannot but just the filter. you'll have to get the entire lcd/prism assembly. it's pretty tough to get it out, so you might want to bring it someplace that can do it.

Red and yellow streaks appear in scans, always in the same location. The scanner was cleaned but the repair person could not find any problem with the equipment. Yet the streaks persist. How do I resolve...

execute a calibration to correct the wrong color:
  1. place your photo on the scanner, with a distance of 0.25 inch from the edge of the glass
  2. open Epson scan and select Professionnal Mode
  3. select the document source
  4. select the image type
  5. uncheck thumbnail then click Prevew
  6. crop the area of the image
  7. Click zoom to fine tune the area you see the streaks
  8. select the resolution of 72 dpi
  9. scan your photo

if the problem still not solved, you need to change the scanner unit , there are many dead pixels.

Yellow not printing - but only in streaks

Your yellow problem sounds like a bad yellow developer housing. Take the drum out and look at the developer housing, You will need a flash light to do so. See if the roller is solid yellow. Even if it is there may not be any developer left in the housing.
The Cyan sounds like the drum since it gets worse as it prints.
That can also be caused by the transfer belt cleaner. But that normally is the opposite. It has a rainbow sort of streak and it gets better as the machine runs.

Yellow Streak on Images

I took the scanner apart. Then using a dampened eyeglass cleaning cloth, I gently cleaned the 3 internal mirrors.
No more yellow streak! :)
