The unit is most likely in protect mode. This means that the output section has a problem and the protection circuitry is preventing it from being turned on. This is to prevent further damage. The typical defective parts are the output transistors. Figure on $20-$40 for parts plus the local labor rate for repair.

My Aiwa AV-D58 receiver won't turn on, only sits on 'Eco Mode.' After letting it sit for about a month, i plugged it into a power outlet and it worked, so I unplugged it and carried it into the room...

Have someone check your house wiring to see if the live and neutral are reversed.

Beyond that - you may have some leaky capacitors. If you're tech savvy, open up the unit and see if any of the electrolytic capacitors are bulging at the top or leaking at the bottom, and if so, unsolder and replace them. This is actually the most likely issue.

Does not power up.

chuck05,

You might try to find a reset button on the back of the unit. Also, the Aiwa website may have a "support" staff that can see if they have an archived manual or tell you which buttons to push. Also, check to see if the unit has a fuse in back. Finally, check a website called audio.manualsonline.com . It's a free deal where people exchange manuals and information.

are you able to check whether any of your speakers may have been blown? or have a direct short to ground ..this usually indicated by the amplifier protecting itself and shutting down,, try un plugging one speaker at a time and you may find that it is one of the speakers ....then get a replacement or get it repaired

Power on problem

Well this helped me find the relay but I found that after i pulled it off the board that it has some corosion around the metal prongs that hold it to the board. Could not get the relay open to do what is posted above , tryed opening it several times. Not sure if you are supposed to open it but could someone let me know. I am scraping around the prongs to get the corosion off hoping it will help but might just replace it alltogether. Further info on how to open the relay to do what is posted would help, I would appreciate any help, plzzzzz! :)
