is it a windows password or poweron password? you must be wondering what are they? windows password is when you have to enter the password to get into windows and before that you get to see the windows loading screen. poweron password is hard to crack, it will ask a password on a black screen saying Enter a Password, and the background will be completely black in color. if its a windows password, press the "Alt+Ctrl+Del" twice, you'll get a screen which will ask you a username and password. in the username and password type in, "Administrator" and password will be blank. hit enter. if it works, then for the rest of the steps, mail me at L2support.firstname.lastname@example.org
I presume this is the CMOS or BIOS password. Turn the unit over and find the ram cover, remove the ram locate the two brass bars near where the ram was. Take a paper clip and bridge them to short out and reset bios password.

If you are sure no one has tampered with it and entered a HDD password and it is not prompting for a password then it is most likely a HDD failure. It is possible the BIOS will still recognize the HDD. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the HDD if you can access it there should be screws on the bottom marked with a cylinder symbol.
