Usually when hairdryers exceeded their temperature settings the thermostat shuts off and the reset button is pressed and the unit turns on.But if it doesn't it means that a fusible breaker is open(meaning that the line is cut-off).You want to repair it your self?Get a philips screw driver(one with a + tip on the end)unscrew the dryer opening it in half. There you would notice wounded wire(called nicrome wire-your heater) and there is this little silvery capsule like object with two wires on each end.Take note of the orientation of the part(the end is flat and the other end is conical) get a similar type on your local hardware store. And replace the bad one with the same position of the original.Screw the cover back take note of the parts where they are originally where and check if you have connected everything right(twice or thrice to make sure and be safe)before plugging it to the outlet.
