Danby DFF282WDB stopped cooling - light comes on - any troubleshooting we can do?

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

You are locked into the defrost mode. This is when every 8-10 hours your unit will shut down for 20-30 minutes and your defrost heater comes on and defrost your freezer cooling (Evaporator) Coil. During this cycle everything shuts down except for the light.

Your controls are usually located on the top of your fresh food section. On the bottom of your controls, near the front, left hand side there is a round hole. This is where your defrost timer is located.

With a large flat head screw driver turn clockwise. You will hear a clicking sound. Turn slowly one click a time until your unit turns on. This unit will have to be replaced. Until it is replace manually turn it off every 10 hours for 20 minutes.

Note the round stub on the left.

Where is the defrost timer on a mabe fridge

Hello Kristine:

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
Good for you. The probability that you have a faulty defrost timer is extremely high.
A defrost timer will cycle every 8-10 hours for about 20 minutes.
It will shut everything down except for the refrigerator light.
Your defrost timer is white in color. In side it is about 2" X 3".
It is mounted on the backside of a sheet metal bracket. The are 3 screws holding it to the metal bracket. In the center of the metal bracket is a small hole slightly larger than 1/4". Protruding through this hole is a small shaft with a slot for a flat head screw driver.
I have never worked on your particular unit, however, the external mounting is generally the same. The defrost timer is either located behind the refrigerator, at the bottom, on the left hand side when you face the back. You may have to remove the lower bottom cover to expose it. The other location is in the front on the right hand side. You will have to remove the bottom grill (Toe plate) to expose it.
Now, having located the defrost timer and with a flat head screw driver, and with the refrigerator plugged in; slowly turn the shaft clockwise. You will hear a click. Turn the defrost timer slowly one click at a time until the refrigerator starts to run.
If this is the case then you know you have a bad defrost timer.
So, you must manually defrost you freezer. Say, every 9 hours, with your flat heat screw driver, turn the shaft on the defrost timer clockwise, one click at a time until the unit turns off. Time it for 20 minutes, then turn one click at a time to turn it on. A great job for a teenager. It would be fun.

Left the fridge door slightly open last night and fridge turned off. How do I turn it back on? Freezer is fine

1. is light on in side when you open the door. If not check breakers or fuses.
2. Can you hear the compressor running. If not do you hear any clicking sounds.
3. If you hear clicking sounds, try putting a fan on compressor and unplug refrigerator.
4. Wait one hour.
5. plug back in. If compressor starts let it run and see if it cools, if it doesnt, call service man.
6. If it goes back to clicking, call a service man.
let me know if this works.

Replaced heater core. Mt car has the dual temperature zones. Now my passenger side temp wont change. stays hot, What should I do?

Either pass side actuator was not plugged in(rear most unit on heater of the 2 actuators for dual zone),(front unit which is an exact opposite is on the opposite side of the heater on the front side) or flap is jammed inside heater assembly.
Open the glove compartment and unscrew the door to remove.
Look to the left......remove the actuator and move the flap....if it moves and the unit was plugged in replace the actuator for the pass side.

Won't power up; push power button on, hear click in back left of unti, get nothing on front display and no output from speakers; as if unit trying to operate

Disconnect the speakers and see what happens. Carefully examine the speaker cables for unwanted connections (shorts).
Take a clue from when the power problem appeared. Something was moved and made the buzz a (probable) dead short.

Vibration and noise from front end while driving

Jack up the front end and put stands under it and block rear wheels. Look at axle boots and see if they are cracked. Try turning wheel back and forth sharply and see if you can hear any clicking. Problem could be outer axle joints. If the boots are cracked or you hear a clicking noise you will have to replace the axle. The axle and boot come as a complete unit. Please let me know what you find out.
