Unit is shutting down after ten min

My unit never got to the point of actually shutting down due to overheating, but your problem may be related to what I experienced: A bent lamp heat shield.

My Optoma EP739 started exhibiting color-banding and strong color shift after years of great service. After trying other suggestions that didn't work, here is the FIX for my unit. I have not seen this posted anywhere else.

Problem: After 10-20 minutes of use, color-banding and then a strong shift to purple/green with almost no red. If the unit is turned off for 5-10 minutes to cool and then powered-up again the problem goes away, only to come back in another 10-20 minutes. Enabling the "High Altitude" setting in the Setup Menu helped for a while (a week or two) since it forces the main cooling fan run at high speed always, but then the problem re-appeared.

Reason: Overheating. The electronics are overheating. Like several people have suggested: First step: Open the unit up and blow-out/vacuum all of the accumulated dust. Assure BOTH fans (there is a small drum blower directly cooling the lamp and a larger regular fan that circulates air through the entire unit) are operating and clear of debris.

Once you have done that, then look for the REAL issue. With the front panel (i.e.the panel with the hole for the lens) removed and looking into the projector from the front examine the metal heat shield on the right side above the lamp. In my unit, because of years of service and heat, the aluminum lamp housing had deformed slightly, tilting this sheet metal heat shield directly INTO the air stream from the fan. This restricts the airflow enough to reduce cooling capacity. This metal shield should be high enough above the lamp to be TOUCHING the plastic case. If it is bent down and is halfway into the air stream then it restricting the exhaust airflow, causing the overheating.

Fix: Bend the heat shield back up so that it is not in the exhaust airflow. It must be ABOVE the airflow, protecting the plastic case from the heat of the lamp. This simple remedy fixed the issue for me. My projector has been running 2-3 hours a day for 10 days now with no banding issues at all. That's it. Simple fix.

Hi, My MT 200 was working perfectly, the bulb has

I don't think this is a bulb problem I think it is a power supply problem. The power supply has converted from the line power level to what the bulb needs. If it has a problem it will go into standby. The bulb is the big power draw on these units so the parts in the bulb power section is subject to a lot more heating and such.

With 700 hours I'm not sure how old the unit is. If you have warranty this is covered. You may have extended store if they talked you into it. Or it is possible you have Toshiba warranty. You should start with the store first and see if there is warranty and they will be able to tell you if there is a local repair depot.
A Toshiba repair depot will be able to fix the unit and tell you about the repair cost. Make sure you have an idea of replacement cost just in case the repair is too expensive. Other than the repair shop I can't suggest anything that would help you out.

Nec mt-1065 lamp hours reset

Hello, unfortunately the NEC MT1060 - MT1070 series projectors have EEPROM chips built into the lamp housing which counts the hours that the lamp has been used for so the only way to reset the hours is to change the lamp for a new one, i have not yet found a way to reset the chips even by reprogramming them, i'm afraid the only solution is to replace the lamp with an official NEC unit, but this was obviously their intention.

Total Expected life (in hours) of a Panasonic DLP Projector

The projector lifetime has a lot to do with maintenance and environment. Over time, the LCD panels will start to deteriorate. I worked for a rental company where these units were in constant use. After 5 years, they were still going strong. Realize though, that these were highly maintained: constant cleaning via compressed nitrogen to remove dust, lens cleaning and filter changing on a regular basis. Checking for proper fan function and complete disassembly and checking for connections etc.

A word of caution: DO NOT work with the LCD block unless you have access to a clean area and have training. The tolerances here are very small. Slight changes can severely alter the picture quality and all adjustments should be left to a professional.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Replaced lamp on optoma hd70 unit will not power on

I had the same issue.
Take the bulb cover off and hold it just above the unit. notice how that part that sticks down has a little curve to it. The curve is designed to gently push that little metal wire as the cover is lowered.
If you take a small toothpick and exercise the little wire in... NOT DOWN... you will hear a small click. That is the switch making contact. When it makes contact and clicks... and you plug it in the green light will be on again... and the unit will work fine.
You do not have to take the tabs off.
Just exercise the switch... put the cover on slowly... be very quiet and you can hear the click sound.
Plug it in and you are good.
And if the color starts to flicker on and off... it needs a VERY good cleaning... not a new bulb. Read my other posting to the guy with the fan picture.
