If u cant pass the self-test (pressing paper feed button while powering ON) , it's service bound

like sweet_rascal said, cleaning is needed, if ur familiar with the insides of that printer, try it

Try using some solvent where the ink sits at in the print head. It seems that your print head has dried up. This will make your computer think that it is out of ink. The older Canons were bad about this. Another asker had the same problem the other day and she did this and it worked.

Which one of these is it?

    LP 2844-Z or TLP 2844-Z

service for these products has ended in

    30 Sep 2005

    A few troubleshooting tips

    Noting is printed

    1. Check the connection

    2. for a parallel link - the printer is not configured for a parallel link = Make sure that this setting has been configured in the printer control panel

    3. for a serial link - the serial communication settings are incorrect or the serial cable is not suitable = Make sure that the communication settings between the pc and printer are the same. make sure that the cable matches the specifications of your print.

    4. In both cases serial or parallel - the cable is connected to the wrong port.

S9000 will only print black if set on "high" print quality, then looks more grey than black

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please try to reset the printer by following the steps---

Turn the power off. Now hold down Resume button and press Power button. Keep holding down Power button and let the Resume button go. Press Resume button twice and then let both buttons go. Green light will flash then stop blinking. When Green light is solid, press Resume button 4 times. Now press the power button and the printer should turn off. If not, press the Power button once more.

If still the issue is not resolved, then please follow the procedure to uncheck the grayscale printing---

On the Windows desktop, click 'Start' then click 'Settings', then click 'Printers' (Windows XP: On the Start menu, click 'Printers and Faxes').

For Windows Vista: Click/Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then Click on 'Printers'.

Note: If you are in 'Classic' view, Click 'Printers' directly from the 'Control Panel'.

For Windows 2000/XP/Vista: Right-click the printer icon, then click 'Printing Preferences'.

For Windows 98/Me: Right-click the printer icon, then click 'Properties' and then on the Main tab, click on the 'Grayscale Printing' check-box to remove the check-mark. Click the 'OK' button to save the settings.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Cannon recommend a cleaning process called deep head cleaning

  1. Open the Printers folder.

    - For Windows XP select 'Start', 'Control Panel', 'Printers and Other Hardware', and 'Printers and Faxes'.
    - For Windows versions other than Windows XP select 'Start', 'Settings', and 'Printers'.

  2. Right-click the printer icon and select 'Properties'.

  3. Click the Maintenance tab, and then click the 'Deep Cleaning' icon.

  4. Select the ink tank color(s) for deep cleaning ('All Colors', 'Black', or 'Color').

    win_maint_deep_clean2.jpg

  5. Confirm the message, and then click the 'Execute' button.

  6. The Power lamp will blink and print head deep cleaning will start. Deep cleaning completes when the Power lamp stops blinking and lights. (It will take about a minute for the Power lamp to stop blinking and light solid.)

  7. Print a Nozzle Check Pattern by holding down the <Resume> on the printer until the Power light flashes twice to determine if further cleaning is necessary. Up to three deep cleanings may be necessary to determine if the print head is working properly

My printer stops printing after printing about two sentences.

I fixed the problem. I kept checking and rechecking making sure everything on my computer was working correctly using any free resources I could locate. I concluded it had to be the printer. I purchased a new Canon Printer and "YAHOO" it workded perfectly.

BJC 2100 is not Windows XP compatible, and Canon never distributed the XP drivers,

Try the driver below, if it does not work, there is no way to xave this printer working on Windows XP.

Note: After confirming that the cable is connected and the printer is powered on, perform the following.
  1. Open the Printers folder.

    • For Windows XP select 'Start', 'Control Panel', 'Printers and Other Hardware', and 'Printers and Faxes'.
    • For Windows versions other than Windows XP select 'Start', 'Settings', and 'Printers'.

  5. Print nozzle check pattern by clicking on the 'Print Check Pattern' button to determine if further cleaning is necessary.

  11. The Power lamp will blink and print head deep cleaning will start. Deep cleaning completes when the Power lamp stops blinking and lights. (It will take about a minute for the Power lamp to stop blinking and light solid.)

  12. Print another nozzle test pattern. If the pattern still does not print correctly, replace any ink tank that may be low, and then perform another deep print head cleaning.

  13. If printing is still not satisfactory, there may be a problem with the print head.
