I need to fit a new door seal

This washing machine is leaking down the front of the door, so I am guessing we need a new seal. I don't really want to pay a small fortune for this, so am prepared to try and fix it myself. Can anyone give me pointers on how to accomplish this?
Many thanks

Thanks so much for this information! I'm going to give it a go - where do you suggest I buy the seal from?

    Cheers Charlotte

Easy fix love what you need to do is un-plug the washer now tak the 2screws from the back of the washer that holds the top(lid) in place now open the door and around the edge of the door seal there will be a spring wire pull this out so you can unattach the door seal totally from the washer front the seal will still be attached to the inner drum though now stand up and look down through the top of the washer down to the front were your door seal is still attached to the washer there will be another clamp with a screw on it undue the screw but you dont have to undue it totally though pull the clamp out through the front through the door seal now will come off the washer now just do these instructions backwards to re-fit the new door seal let me know how you go on or if you get into trouble doing the job peter

at a guess i would say there is a cut in the rubber seal around the door sometimes its hard to spot it but if you pour a cup of water on the seal and see if the water comes down under the machine if so you wil need a repair man/woman it a hard job

Water is leaking from the front somewhere. hoses and fittings were dry...so it's coming from the front.

the first thing to check is the door boot seal make sure there is no tears in the rubber seal.
then you may need to check the drain pump and hoses.

Rubber Seal leaks

You have to replace the whole door seal.It can be done through the port hole, difficult but achievable or you can strip the front of the appliance off and do the inner part easier.

Unplug the appliance.

Open the door and take the seal retaining ring out of the door seal.

Peel the door seal off the front panel and fold it inside.

Take the seal retaining ring/spring out of the tub side of the seal.

Pull the seal off and take it out of the appliance.

Fit the new seal to the tub, look at the seal and tub for matching arrow marks to help align it.

Fit the retaining ring/spring into the groove in the seal and over the lip of the tub.

Fit the seal to the front panel and then fit the retaining ring into the seal.

Restore the power to the appliance and leak test it.

If you find you can't get the seal on.

Take the top off the appliance.

Take the dispenser out.

Take out the screws revealed.

Take out the screws holding the door lock.

Take off the plastic cover below the door and remove the screws revealed.

Take the front panel off.

If the panel won't come down and off there will be a hidden screw that requires the facia panel to be removed. It's snap together plastic, just release the catches and carefully remove the facia.

Take the screw out, take the panel off.

Fit the inner part of the seal to the tub.

Reassemble the front of the appliance.

Fit the seal to the front.

Leak test the appliance.

LG Washer leak, small tear in door seal

Follow these steps to replace your door seal:
Disconnect all power to the machine first!!

1 Locate the outer clamp band securing the seal to the door rim on the washing machine and examine it carefully for holes or tears. Many can be prised off with a flat-bladed screwdriver they have a spring system holding them, but some have a tensioning arrangement that has to be loosened.
2 After removing the outer clamp band, locate the inner one securing the seal to the drum and establish how this is secured. It may be necessary to loosen a clip, or you may be able to prise the band off with a flat-bladed screwdriver. Some are like very large Jubilee clips that you have to undo usually from the top.
3 Once the clamp bands have been removed, use both hands to pull the seal away from the inner drum rim. Some machines have a water spout holes that will have to be lined up. Others have a drain holes.
4 Rubbing a drop of washing up liquid into the groove on the door seal/gasket that locates on the drum makes fitting the new seal easier.
5 the new washing machine door seal should be fitted by locating the drain holes at the bottom of the seal first then push it on with both hands working opposite directions towards the top. This is quite hard if you have never done it before.
6 refit the inner band remembering this must be tensioned correctly for it to be water tight.
7 now fit the outer band and the test the machine for any leaks,

Change integrated Neff washing machine door seal

you will need to remove front panel this is quite easy, turn off mains open door and look for steel band spring holding front lip of door seal this needs to be removed it will be tight but will pull off, push door seal into drum so as out of the way, look at bottom of panel you will find 2 or 4 holding screws dependent on age of appliance undo these ,there is one other screw to undo behind the soap drawer take out draw and remove screw it is bottom r/h/side one you can then pull front panel away you need to disconnect door lock plug just pulls out.
remove panel out of the way and you will see another steel band holding back of seal to wash tub remove this and pull of door seal. reverse procedure to fit new one a little washing up liquid may help reassembly fit panel etc run check for leaks.

good luck

Fitting a new door seal

unplug machine. Pull off retainer clip from the front , with both hands inside push up the seal untill its free. Then with the new seal apply washing up liquid to the gap on the seal. And fit this is fiddly. Then pull the spring you removed to loosen abit and with a screw driver to keep it in place throught the door lock thats why youve unpluged it. strech the spring around. the ease on the front part of the seal and replace the clip. put on a wool wash to check for leaks. appliance doctor
