3 things to verify.

1. Check if there is any other jumpers other then the salve one or master.

2. Get in the computer management. Go in the control panel/ Administrative tools/ computer management. once there click on disk manager and see if it is actually a 20 Gig partition instead of 200Gig.

3. the drive might be defective in that case go on the Western Digital website and download the utility to test your hard drive.

My Maxtor Athena 20GB hard disk is in error

delete the entire partition and do a quick format....
then do partition according to your requirement and try formatting...
if it still says error, then use any disk formatting utility like partition magic and try one more time....
still problem then you should take it back for replacement if it comes under warranty period....

My 20gb hard drive is showing that there is only 7.9 gb of free space but i deleted all my games and everything that wasn't important for the thing. is there anyway to like format it or something so i can...

think4urself - Don't format the drive. If you haven't done so yet, empty the recycle bin / trash. This should release your space. If it doesn't, try defragging that drive. If it persists after that, you have a more serious issue.

A format will not help, but will destroy the rest of the data on the drive.

Externals not recognized by computer.

Go to your control panel open up 'administrative tools' Open Computer management, then choose disc management instead of device manager. Make sure that you have the drives pluged in and connected before you do that. All connected drives formatted or not that are in working order should show up under disc management. If they are not showing up they are not compatable. Make sure that they are marked as active and format them if they need to be formatted. Do so by right clicking on the drive in the disc management window.

I need to download the installation disk for the lct15 20gb hdd

Check the bios if the hard drive is detected. if not configure the necessary jumper settings. if not detected, you have a defective hard drive.

if detected:

Try to fdisk it to repair the partition. reformat and install again.

Hope that helps.

Thinks it's full

232 gbs is normal, a 250 GB hard drive has generally less space than 250 GBs, the actual size of the disk depends on the way used to format it.

Everio dvd burner

Usually if it's a formating issue is because it is a wrong disc. Make sure what format the burner can use meaning if it's a - or +. Also, the sony brand disc don't work with anything but sony stuff so make sure it's not a sony disc.
