Question about X2Gen MG19MY 19" LCD Monitor
We had the same problem with a Princeton VL1918 19" LCD monitor. Usually its a capacitor problem. If this is the case you might need to take the monitor apart look on the power board for the bulged capacitors and pull the numbers off of the caps. Go to a radio shack or find an electronics store in your area, get a soldering gun a soldering vaccum bulb and a wet sponge. Make sure you plug the right post into the right hole before you solder it. There is a Negative and a Positive on the caps. The wafer board should say where the negative whole is, also the capacitors on the board will show a negative side. Just use a pen or a sharpie mark for the negative posts, there may be a few caps that may be bulged. On the Princeton I just fixed it had three of the same capacitors 470uf at 25volts. Make sure you get the right caps or you have the potential to mess your monitor up even more than it already is. Inspect all your caps on your power board, Im sure there will be some rather larger ones and some small ones, if they look bad or you even suspect them of being bad REPLACE THEM. Capacitors are CHEAP so replace them if you suspect them of being bad. Solder new caps onto the board and then clip the extra cap posts. A note on safety. PLEASE BE SAFE DESOLDERING OLD CAPS. They can be charged in some cases. Just don't cross the posts when desoldering. The new ones that are packaged should not be charged but safety first ALWAYS assume a capacitor IS charged at all times! You will live longer if you take that approach!
