Question about Toshiba 36A43 36" TV

2 Answers

Toshiba 36a40 tv continually cycles thru all it's functions- all menu items, tv,video 1,video 2, video 3 and won't stop. i've tried everything i can think ofbut there is no stopping it. It rolls through the menu. Then out of no where it will start working again. Know it won't let us do anything. It is stuck on one channel, can't change the volume,The only buttons that do anything on the TV are Menu and TV/Video but the set will just go black or scroll through the menu.

Same issue with this POS TV. I've never been so mad at an inanimate object. I'm ready to put my foot through the screen. No solution I've found works.

Double check that the Demonstration in the menu is not set to on. This will cause it to keep scrolling thru.....

It's most likely the button panel in the the front shorting out. The reason why the remote isn't working is that the manual TV buttons always override the remote, and can only complete one task at a time.

Short of it being taken back to factory reset via its menu system, which most will do in some way (Initial setup sequence) the other possible cause could be its tuner which may have a partial fault if so then it is possibly a service call out. Unless its a simple job, sadly these days it will have to go to a service centre contact Toshiba for a local repair place they will have better knowledge of your item.

Recently plugged a CamCorder into the side panel to show home video. Subsequently, the TV is now dark with "No Video Signal" when either Satelite or DVD is the source.

I would say make sure the TV is on the correct channel, or input selection for whatever corresponding input source. Be it cable, video 1, video 2, dvd 1, etc. If TV worked before and with your camcorder, then it has to work with other sources after removing the camcorder. Hope this is somewhat helpful.

Tv continually changes from video 1 to video 2 to video 3 etc... sometimes get black screen as well + menu items. Based on a suggestion, I removed the batteries from the remote but that does not help. This...

It sounds like a switch problem inside the TV if you have already tried removing the remote batts. Try replacing the switches behind the push buttons on the front of the TV. Also, if glass cleaner or some other foreign substance has run down the front of the screen and into the set, this can cause switches to short out and cause this problem. The part number for the switches is 23145227. Thanks for using fixya.

My toshiba tv only goes up to channel 12, when it reaches channel 12 it starts back at channel 1.

You will need to re-scan the channels, i don 't know where it is on the menu of this set. If you are on cable, you need to make sure your tv is set to cable tuning, or you cannot get channels past channel 13. Same is true for antenna if you are on antenna make sure you are set for this.
