Yes, I would recommend you set up a encryption on it. and by the way useing someones wireless without permission is a crime punishable with jailtime.

How to enable or disable remote access on a VersaLink 7500 wireless router

Remote access is a way for you to log in to your router's settings from any computer that has Internet access, even if it's not on your local network. You can configure your VersaLink 7500 Wireless Gateway for remote access by following the steps below.

To enable remote access:

- Open up a web browser on any computer that's on the same network as your router.
- Type your router's IP address (by default, it is 192.168.1.1) into the browser's address bar and hit Enter.
- Click the Advanced link at the top of the screen.
- Click Yes when asked if you're sure you want to proceed.
- Click Remote Administration.
- If you are asked to log in, enter the user name and password for your router.
- Click the box next to Enable Remote Access.
- Write down the URL shown on the next line; that is the IP address and port number you'll use to access your router remotely.
- Click Apply to save the change.

To disable remote access:

- Follow the steps above to get to the Remote Administration page.
- Remove the check mark next to Enable Remote Access.
- Click Apply.

If you haven't already changed the router's user name and password from the preset ones, you should do that now to prevent other people from being able to access your router over the Internet. You can set up a new name and/or password by clicking Users on the Advanced page. If you don't regularly use remote access, you should leave it disabled as an added security measure.

I'm trying to connect to WiFi on belkin.Ofe.guests and it goes to a page that says belkin access password. I dont have a router. Is there anyway I can get a password?

You are attempting to connect to a PROTECTED WIFI network. You must know (or be given) the password for that network in order to be granted access. If you do not know the password (or who to get it from), chances are you don't have any business connecting to that particular network.

Youtube is Blocked From My Computer How do i Unblock it??

since it is posted in the router problem, i assume it is blocked from the router configuration page...but i wont exclude the possibility that is is blocked from your unit's os..anyway if its blocked from the router..you must access the config page of the router..usually the default is 192.168.1.1 but if you can access it is likely that they changed it to their preffered setting..even if you know the ip to access , it would be useless if there's a password..your next step is to reset the router...look for a small hole at the back of the router and insert a pin or something to reset it by push hold it for maybe 10-20secs..then you should be able to access it by default 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1

How do i unlock my netgear wgu624 router ?? i forgot my security password, and i'v been trying to make a WiFi connection with my ps3 from the house computer, i entered the default code and it now sends...

I'm not familiar with the term "unlock" as it relates to that router, but see if this helps:
The product manual, found here, gives detailed instructions on how to log on and set up the configuration for your devices. It also has information on how to use the reset button or menus to reset the router to the default ID and password.
I suspect that you have already done this, which would tell me that the house computer was configured in the router and that was dropped during the reset. Your next step will be to examine the configurations on the router, the PS3, and the home computer. Look for any differences between those configurations and make whatever changes are required to make all three match.
Good luck.

I have a wireless router in a room next to mine which the internet runs to which works well. But i have the belkin n1 vision running off the computer in the room next door but i can not find the internet? ...

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then configure wan settings and lan settings enable wireless if you want to use wifi . Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Change password

Are you asking about your wireless network password or the password to access the router control panels via a web browser?

Your wireless network requires a password if you have your network setup to be secure from outside people using it.
If you have no neighbors within wireless range and don't care about anyone accessing your home network then you can turn off the wireless encryption feature within the router control panels.
Then it won't ask for a password when you connect.

Of course a properly working network card will do that anyway since it remembers the password for you and connects automatically anyway, so I'm not sure why you'd want to remove the password.

I don't recommend removing a wireless password because it's normally stored on your laptop anyway and you only have to enter it once. Then it normally just works from then on. If there is no password then other people can use your Internet connection and slow it down, they could access your router and THEY could put a password on it, or have easier access to get into your computer.

Anyway ...
To access the router and change the settings you need to identify what IP it's on so you can log into it and view the settings. Most routers including this one has a full HTTP menu like a web site that is used to configure it.
.
While connected to the router (or online) go to the Start Menu, Accessories, and then Command Prompt. Start that and type in IPCONFIG and hit enter. Find the section for your network card or Ethernet, then look for the IP address called "Default Gateway" such as 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1

Note if you have Ethernet and wireless then there will be 2 sets of numbers. Select the one that you are using at the time for your connection. Then we use that number to access the router.

1. Launch your Web browser. Enter http://192.168.0.1 or whatever number you found earlier and put that into the address bar (instead of www.whatever) and press the "Enter" key. If you have the address right the router will respond and ask for the username and password.

2. Type "admin" for the username and leave the password field blank. This is the default for this router unless someone at your house changed it.

3. Click "OK". The router config screen will appear.
Find the wireless settings page and if you want to edit or remove the wireless password you can do it here. If you turn off the wireless security then it will require no password.

I recommend using an Ethernet connection for these adjustments because when you change wireless settings you'll basically hang up your connection each time you make a change and hit save. Ethernet is more likely to stay connected and doesn't care or even use the wireless password.

This is a bit complicated to write down and get every step exactly right but that covers the basics of it. If you get stuck you can refine your question or ask for clarification.

Securing my wireless network DIR615

the password you entered should prevent people from using yor network unless they have the password. Your network will still show on other peoples settings when they check for networks to connect to, but now you have added a password for your router it should say secured next to it when they try to use your network it will ask them for the password - pin - etc... and if they do not have it then they should not be able to access your router. Why not try to see if one of your neighbours can still access it now you have protected it with a password.

No access for other laptops on my wireless router

You need to access the router's setup page using a computer that has Internet connection through the router. To do that, launch IE from that computer and type 192.168.2.1. It will then asks for a username/password. Try leaving the username and password blank. If that doesn't work, try admin for username and leave the password blank.

It will then open your router's setup page. Just click on wireless tab on the left panel and then click security. There you can set security mode to disable.

Hope this helps!
