Hi,
Have you removed the network card from the computer ? Check the same by removing the same. If you have burnt marks on the system , then there is nothin much we can do , other tan putting in a new motherboard.

Thanks

M3N78-VM LAN PORT& PCI PROBLEM

1) How do you know that PCI slot is not working? Tried another PCI expansion card in it? Perhaps another LAN adapter card?
(Ethernet Card)

A LAN adapter card will go bad before a PCI slot will.

2) PCI expansion slot is bad? No other PCI slot to use?
Then here is a suggestion,

Plug it into any available USB port on the computer.
It is a GigaByte Ethernet solution, also. (10/100/1000)

When i connect the lan wire my mother board shows lan not connected why/

Either the cable is defective (it has a break inside it so try another one) or the onboard LAN chip was fried by the power surge generated by a lightning strike that came in your vicinity.
That is unfixable, disable the onboard one from the BIOS and install a simple PCI LAN card in its place.

Lightning strike nearby, no power from the card what so ever

The most likely explanation is the high voltage from the lightning has probably zapped the sensitive electronics. It is however worth checking all the fuses are OK
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.

"zapped" tv (dee7189)

I would need more details on this problem. Does the tv turn on? If so, what do you see on the screen? If you mean by "zapped" that the tv received a lightning strike and does not turn on, it's possible there are several damaged circuit board components. Depending on the severity of the strike, it's possible that just the fuse is blown. I need more details to advise further.

On board lan & pci slots are not working . on board lan also not showing in device manager.

Was the board recently struck by lightning? I've had several problems where lightning struck the motherboard through the lan ports, while not destroying the board itself, but just the lan port, and usually not showing up in device manager gives it away.

You will have to replace the motherboard if this is the case

Could be an internal fuse blown but most later electronics use a special kind of resistor called a varistor. These devices are across the AC line and do nothing until the voltage difference between the two lines, hot & neutral, exceeds a certain voltage; this is typically ~200 volts for 120 service as in the US and higher for 220 service on most of the planet.
They are disc shaped, will be from 4-5mm (~ 3/8") to as much as 25mm (~1") in diameter and if ever zapped, they are charred and with chunks missing.  When their design voltage is exceeded, their resistance drops from near infinite to a few Ohms which then causes the fuse to blow. You can replace the fuse and choose not to replace the varistor but then you will not longer have even that minimal protection against spikes.
For folks in lightning-prone areas, the installation of a 'whole-house' surge suppressor is highly desirable, will cost ~$250 US and have an insurance policy against losses of $10-$25,000 US in case you still lose devices protected.

That cable could be the wake-on-LAN cable, it is used for the connection of the card to the motherboard's wake-on-LAN slot, this is only used if your motherboard supports wake-on-LAN and you want to open your pc remotely from another location. But if don't need remote pc connection you don't need to install this cable.

Lan card disabled

When u plug the ethernet CAT cable in the LAN card socket , so you see any light orange or green flashing on the LAN card itself.
If yes then right click on my computer >> properties >> Hardware >> device manager>> check in network adapters whether the LAN card is enabled or not
If NO the right click on it and enable it check whether it is able to receive any ip address

If u see no light at all
Then you might have to install a new LAN card on the system

Lightning

Hi,

In a nutshell, yes and not only to a Dell but to most computer brands/models. In some instances, it's only the modem, router, LAN card that gets fried while some gets everything toasted.

Incidentally, even a near lightning strike is enough to cause big problems.

Kind regards.
