My ps3 audio and video won't work. the power on it works and I it allows me to put cds into it, but nothing comes up on any tv i use it with. how can i fix this?

I'm pretty sure I've done this but I could be mistaken. the power button is the one all the way on the right in the front correct? I've put my finger on this and it turns the system off leaving a red light. pretty sure its the soft reset but i cant really figure out how to just reset it and not turn it off. Turn your system off. Completely. With red light lit of front of your PS3, hold the power button, one on the right, for 5 seconds, or until you hear several beeps. This resets your video setting. Your PS3 should display standard startup screen, wavy lines, and then a black screen will pop up asking you if you want to keep this resolution or change it to optimal settings. Turn your system off.
