Change Region On Printer

Hi,
I have had my printer for just over a year now and the cartridges have ran out. I ordered some new ones online, so the old ones have been thrown away before i received the new ones. The problem i have now is that ever time i insert a cartridge i get error saying print cartridges not intended for this printer. I have tried 8 in all cartridges all hp brand. I contacted hp support live chat online, they got me doing all things that i had already tried. I was giving some commands to print off a summary sheet to show ids off cartridges etc. The summary off live chat was that i had a us region printer even though i brought it in the uk. The print cartridges are uk, so the hp live chat operator told me i have change the printer region. I said ok lets go for it, then i get a message saying i got to phone uk support to get this done. I dont want to waste my money going through all the stuff i have already done. Can someone help me with this please.

Many Thanks

Kered

You will need to contact HP at the support number they provided, tell them that you have a US region printer and need it reset to the UK. The cartridge numbers are different and a US region printer will not accept UK cartridges.

They can do the reset over the phone and there should not be any charge for this. You will need to be at your computer as they will need to have you send some commands to the printer. The reset procedure is not available through the online chat.

This will only need to be done once, after the reset procedure the printer will properly accept the UK cartridges (but no longer accept US cartridges....).

    Hello Bob,
I have got the same problem moved from Germany to Malaysia with my HP Photosmart 2610. And now I've bought new cartridges, but the printer doens't accept them. They also have different numbers than the german cartridges. But the printer is made in Malaysia!?!?
Where I have to call now Malaysia or German HP Support?

    Cheers
    Markus

As above, you will need to contact local HP Support, Malaysia in your case. There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty.

Hi

The printer will use same cartridges that it uses in Saudi Arabia, and those cartridges are available even in Canada, you can buy it from this link. I mean there is no need for region code etc. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Hi

Well it is nothing but to change the region of the printer. hence remove all the cartridges and remove the power supply first.

1. Hold # & 9 key on the keypad
2. Connect the power back to the printer
3. It will say NVRAM init.
4. It will ask for the Region select what you want.
5. And continue to work

OR

Goto setup menu in printer and change the region.

Hi, That specific combination of lights means only one thing. That there is an Region Mismatch Error between the printer and the installed toner cartridge. Depending on the country you live your printer will have a Region Setup. Example U.S. and Canada Region 1, Latin America Region 4, Europe Region 2 and Asia Region 3. So in order to get the right toner you need to make sure that the toner you are buying is for the same region as your printer otherwise you will get an error like the one you have right now. To find out the region of your printer open the front cover and there should be a white sticker that contains Serial Number, Type, Config and the Region. Based on that you can check on lexmark.com and see if the cartridge # that you bought is the same region as your printer.

Lexmark x73 - prints blank pages

This is a possibility however I can't be positive unless I were there to check it myself... where the printer hasn't been used in years it is highly possible that the ink in the cartridges has dried up. This is not uncommon.

It's also possible that the outlet for the ink on the cartridge itself is blocked with dried ink. You could place the ink cartridge itself in a saucer of nail polish remover (covering the electronic looking portion of the ink cartridge. Leave it there for 30 minutes. Blot dry it with a cloth and replace it into your printer. Try to print once again.

If this doesn't work, you most likely need new ink cartridges. Considering the cost of the ink cartridges for your printer, you are better off buying a new printer in which new ink cartridges are included. A new printer should only cost a little more than the cost of new ink cartridges. Considering you only require am all in one home use printer. Check online sites and check stores as there are usually sales ongoing.

Change region code on my printer to except 02 ink instead of 363

I moved from the UK to the US with an hp 7310 all in one and also ran into the same problem. You need to call HP support for them to change the region of your printer to accept the locally available ink cartridges. A max of 3 changes is allowed, and as the previous poster has mentioned, if your printer is out of warranty they will try to sell you an extended warranty to "fix" the problem. Here is a link from baconvsprout detailing the problem and trying to get it fixed. http://www.baconvsprout.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=101:hp-customer-service-and-region-coded-printers&catid=35:sprout&Itemid=59
in short the best way to get around it is to get your cartridges refilled. In the US Office Max charges $10 for black which is about1/5 the price of the retail hp393 cartridge that I need to purchase from the UK. in my opinion I am going to avoid HP products from now on.

Hi there,

I went online with HP chat last night and the fix is to go into the printers folder and right click the printer, go into properties and advanced then check off "print directly to the printer"....worked for me :-)

Change region codess on printer hp c3180

Hi ,
Let me fist inform you that the question you asked for is related to "regionalization" of the printers . It is very particular to HP printers.
You can just regionalize your printer thrice in the enitre printer lifetime - not more than that. And the codes you are referring to - they are not there somewhere - they have to be logged in by the back end team who decode the "10-tap test" to re-enter the codes for regionalization so that the printer becomes compatible in the region you are using it in.
The cartridges even change in every country to make the printer work - let me state you how.....as per www.hp.com
HP Photosmart C3100 All-in-One series This product uses regionalized ink supplies, so the inkjet print cartridges for the product depends on where you are in the world. If you do not know which pen regionalization zone you are in, click here to view the Regionalization Country-to-Zone Mapping Table . Once you know the zone, you can identify the cartridges used in this product. Cartridge Description Zone 1 Zone 2 Zone 3 Zone 4 black inkjet print cartridge HP 92 HP 336 HP 132 HP 850 tri-color inkjet print cartridge HP 93 HP 342 HP 136 HP 854 black inkjet print cartridge Not availaible HP 338 HP 131 Not available tri-color inkjet print cartridge HP 95* HP 343 HP 135 HP 855 photo inkjet print cartridge HP 99 HP 348 HP 138 HP 858 *The HP 95 is not compatible with printers sold only in North America; instead, use the HP 93 Tri-color cartridge. Refer to the link to understand how the world is divided into 4 zones - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpa00586&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1146331#zone_mapping And you can beleive into what i say as I work for HP printers....! the best i would suggest is to call up Technical / Customer Care centre and tell them you need to reset....they will assist you for 10-tap test and ask you to send them the 10-tap test and the Proof of Purchase of the region cartridges.....and then wait for the back end team to call you within the next 48 hours.

I have just moved from the US to Shanghai with my HP C7280 printer. Bought some new cartridges from the HP dealer in Shanghai after our US supply ran out. Got the 'Incorrect Ink Cartridge' message on the printer after installing them, which the dealer probably knew I would get and didn't tell me, which I'm assuming is what you got.
My experience was to use the 'Chat' function on the HP.com web site in the Support area. The good news is that they solved my problem, the bad news is that it took 1 1/2 hours and is the most convoluted process I've experienced in years. There is a little 'voodoo' going on the background......... after having me find several values, including cartridge serial number values (no not the cartridge number on the cartridge), reset values, and others I can't remember, he said he had to go 'calculate' and he then came back with 5 four digit numbers I had to enter after going to Windows Control Panel -->Printers and after getting my printer selected and the Preferences screen displayed, clicking on the HP logo while holding the CRTL key down (I kid you not).

Sooooooo, I believe the only solution is to use HP Support and to also write letters complaining about how really, really, really stupid this process is. And being the conspiracy theorist that I can be, HP probably was seeing lost revenue from people buying cartridges that are cheaper in parts of the world and shipping them to where HP is, ahem, making a killing and padding their profits.......
Good Luck
