Question about IBM ThinkPad T43 Notebook

1 Answer

Power chord So my powerchord doesn't actually charge my computer unless I hold it in the computer at odd angles. I thought perhaps it was the computer itself (where I plug in the charger) but I bought a new chord and it seemed to work fine and charge again. Now after a year it is doing the same thing as the old charger, not charging unless I hold it into the computer at a weird angle. Is this a problem with the chords? Or my computer itself? And how do I fix it, I don't want to have to keep buying new power chords.

Try another cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs. If you have a multimeter, verify DC voltage at the AC jack plug. If the AC jack, in the laptop, has been pulled, damaged, it's may have a loose connection. You didn' say if ANY LED's, battery charge, work? If the battery is charged and it doesn't start on battery only, then you have other issues. It may need a ride to a Qualified Computer Tech.

Usually the reason why computer is not charging is probabaly the transistors was freeze or i may say stuck and not usable the best advise is actually send it on a TV repair becasue they will probably replaced the transistors but before that do this ,, try to reseat the cable where power chord is plug in and the place where you plug the power chord clean it with a clean paper or a napkin make sure its dry make sure it s clean try to power it on .Try to use another power chord or other outlet thanks
.In case nothing happens that s the time you need to contaft the TV repair shop on your area .

My toshiba Satellite P35-S609 started not charging. The charge connector seemed not working. I gave it for repair, and the person told that one module which connected the charge chord to the mother board...

Seems a bit odd that the inverter would fail immediately after a repair job that involved the power jack since the inverter is built into the screen housing or lid leaving only a single connector to disconnect then reconnect (aside from the wifi antenna wires) If it is a back-light you can shine a flashlight on the screen in a darkened room and you should see faint images. Use an external monitor to narrow it down to an inverter or perhaps a plug that had not been properly inserted (white one coming from the screen, center above the keyboard) If the external monitor does work then the problem most likely exists after that white connector if it has been inserted properly and has not been otherwise damaged during the repair process previously undertaken. Good Luck!

Toshiba A205 won't charge unless I physically hold cord in

The most likely problem is the power socket on the laptop, it may be just a dry solder joint and needs to be resoldered or it may be faulty and needs to be replaced. Either way to fix this, it requires the laptop to be dismantled to get at this power socket. Get a quote to repair, as it could cost a few dollars. If it is a faulty cord/plug on the power adapter, this can be checked with a multi-meter. When you connect the multi-meter probes to the power plug the voltage should be steady and the reading should be slightly higher then the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the power adapter. If the voltages fluctuates as you wriggle the plug then you have a broken wire in the plug. Replacing the plug would not cost much.

Power chord won't charge laptop

If you need to wiggle the cord in order for it to charge, then you have a problem.
If you have to wiggle it at the computer, you probably have either a bad plug on the adapter or the power connector on the motherboard is going bad. This situation will not cure itself. It will only get worse.
Check the voltage at the end of the power adapter cord (the plug where it goes into the computer). If it's constant even when you wiggle the plug, you're gonna be looking for a new motherboard soon. I have actually replaced the power adapter on motherboards, but it's tricky--you have to be really good with a soldering iron!

No power to the dell ispron

Hi cochran,

I would recommend since you had the hardware in the laptop checked and the powerchord was replaced that you try charging the device in a different wall socket as the problem my lie there. However it is more likely that your DC input receiver that you plug the chord into on the laptop is defective and this is not an issue with your motherboard, it is a seperate connector that charges the internal battery. It could be also that whoever is using the powerchord is continually straining the wires by twisting them, or stretching them in awkward directions unintenionally. You want to be sure that there is always some slack in cable when it is connected, and that it is wrapped up correctly (ie dont just tangle all the wires up and throw it in a bag when it is not in use).

Hope this helps and please take a second to rate!

Problem power chord

Hi,
The problem that you Actually Have, Is that the Mains In DC Jack on the Motherboard. Has worked Loose.
You need this replacing A.S.A.P as it,s burning your power packs out, it,s also possibly arcing across the motherboard.
If you look on the internets largest Auction Site :) services are offered to repair these. Usually varying From £40-$80. Plus, Dependant on sending the complete laptop, or just Motherboard.
Alternatively A Computer repair centre. I,d estimated £100-$200 Maximum. But worth Doing to save your Motherboard And future power pack purchases.
