You are pretty close to the mark, after having the company come out twice and quote circuit boards / cards etc. We had worked out that the issue was actually the file that we were originally trying to print. After clearing the printer drivers on pc it had cleared the error on printer. Was just about to be hit with an enormous bill from the printer company that came out and never thought to check the printer drive on pc first.

Check the file that you are trying to send. It's either in the file or application that you are using to creat the file.

Brother MFC 8440 showing error code MACHINE ERROR 6A or 6E

Hi.

Both errors are signalling a temperature problem in fuser assembly.

The solution below applies to several Brother models. Depending on the model, the reset procedure may be different.

Brother Error 6A means that the thermistor located in the fuser assembly did not detect that required temperature had been reached in valid time.

First you can try entering in maintenancemode and clearing the error. If that does not work, that means that the thermistor, the lamp, or the whole fuser assembly must be replaced.

Error 6E is similar. 6E is diplayed when thermistor detect that the fuser temperature is not going up at least at 2°C every for 5 seconds.

As for 6A, first reset the code. If the error does not clear the fault can concern the thermistor, the fuser lamp or the power supply to the fuser assembly.

To reset the error code follows these steps:

1. Press MENU *,2,8,6,4 . Press keys within 2 seconds.
2. The machine beeps and display shows “maintenance".
3. Look for Init or Reset on menu, and enter the corresponding parameter.
4. To exit press 99.

This procedure above usually works on MFC-8xxx model. On other models you may need to do the following:

1) Unplug machine.
2) Hold down menu key. Plug in machine.
3) Release menu key.
4) Enter 91
5) Enter 99

or:

1) Disconnect the printer power cord.
2) Hold down the menu key while plugging in machine at same time.
3) Enter 99 while holding down menu key
4) After menu says " wait" push the stop/exit button to get out of the maintenance mode.

If that does not work, it means that the fuser assembly must be replaced. Here the part for MFC-8440: Genuine Brother Mfc8440 Fuser Assembly.

Regards.

I suddenly got an LCD Error E000 in the middle of copying. I have followed the reset procedures outlined by Canon. I have powered it off for up to an hour but still get the error messages. I have reset...

Make sure it has its own dedicated power and not sharing power with any other device. If the power checks to be good, follow the steps below.
Perfrom a Printer Reset. A Printer Reset can be done by:
1. Enter Service Mode by pressing the ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS key, then the # key.
2. Scroll through the menu using the arrow keys to the left or right of the SET key.
3. Find #7PRINTER and press the SET key.
4. While in the the #7 PRINTER menu, use the arrow keys and find #4PRINTER RESET and press thre SET key.
5. A selection of either YES or NO will appear, use the arrow key to the LEFT of the Set key to select YES.
6. After YES has been properly selected, unplug the machine and plug it back in.
Following these steps can reset this code.

To reset page counter after replacing the OPC belt or FC Roller please follow the steps below:
  • Power the printer on while holding down MENU/ENTER key
  • Release the key when the display shows "Utility Menu Clear FC. Roll"
  • If you have replaced the FC Roller then select this option by pressing MENU/ENTER key, if you have replaced the OPC belt then change this option by pressing MEDIA key so the display changes to "Utility Menu Clear Belt CG".
  • When one of these options is selected by pressing MENU/ENTER key, the display will change to "Utility Menu Clear FC. Roll/ Clear Belt CG Not Execute" by pressing MENU/ENTER key again the display will change to "Execute"
  • Press the MENU/ENTER key again after 10 seconds the display will change to "Completed Clear FC. Roll / belt CG"
  • Now power the printer off and after waiting few seconds power it on again, after it's initial self-diagnosis the printer should now work normally without the error message.
